I'm contemplating building a Ryzen (probably 3900x) Hackintosh mainly for music production. I do not really want to support Intel with their current CPU / pricing strategy if possible.
I'd be interested to hear an update on stability/compatibility with regards to audio apps as i've read of issues with software (e.g. with Reaper, Pro Tools) and latency in past discussions. Any long term users want to chime in?
My audio setup:
USB Audio Interface: Scarlett 18i8 3rd gen
DAW: Bitwig
VST: u-He Stuff, NI Komplete, Pigments, Soundtoys, Fabfilter
I'm a heavy VST user which is limiting me with my current iMac.
I also have a lot of external USB gear connected, if i understand it correctly, individual devices attached to a USB hub do not count towards the port limit?
And secondary question: I might do some windows gaming on it but would prioritize a silent system; what would be a good hassle free GPU that supports either 2x 4k screens or one beastly ultrawide monitor and occasional gaming without issues and constant fan noise?
