New build for my hackintosh

Hi! I'm going to build my first hackintosh for rendering and graphics in general (blender, keyshot, Adobe pack etc.), I was thinking of Windows dual boot with different ssd. My first option was a Ryzen 5/7 3000 series but I read that cpu and problems with Adobe Pack, so Intel, specifically i7 9700k or 9600k, is the best compromise for me. I ask for the maximum possible stability (ok stability is in relation to the kexts that I inject, but I'm looking for a consolidated build :)) and I'm open to other configurations with other CPUs. The budget is 500€ max 700€ without considering psu, case, monitor and for now gpu (I was thinking of rx 580 8gb). My current configuration is i5 4590, h97m and r9 280x, I tried to create a hackintosh but it was full of problems, I spent 4 days trying to solve many problems but nothing, the bios of h97m is strange there is not everything is need to continue (tips?) and maybe it's not entirely incompatible, so I let it go. That's all! Ah sorry for my bad english!

Help! Black Screen trying to install Catalina with OpenCore

So I decided to get into Hackintoshing now since I have so much space time on my hands due to the current pandemic, plus I kinda want to see how it feels like to code on mac.

However, I was trying to install MacOS with opencore, but I kept getting a black screen after this line of text: IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, sm 0x0

From what I understand it seems to be an issue with the gpu(?)

Specs:

- Aorus z390 Pro Wifi

- i7-9700K

- RTX 2070 Super (Using iGpu when booting to MacOS

Kexts:

- AppleALC.kext

- IntelMasui.Kext

- Lilu.kext

- SMCProcessor.Kext

- SMCSuperIO.Kext

- USBInjectAll.Kext

- VirtualSMC.Kext

- WhateverGreen.Kext

SSDTs:

- SSDT-AWAC.aml

- SSDT-GPU-DISABLE.aml

- SSDT-PLUG.aml

- SSDT-PMC.aml

- SSDT-USBX.aml

What I have Tried:

- Setting iGPU as default GPU

- adding agdpmod=pikera to launch settings

- plugging another monitor into my motherboard

Here's a [link]( https://github.com/BackToReal1ty/OpenCore-Aorus-z390- ) to my config.plist, kexts, and SSDTs

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unable to boot or update to 10.15.5

Has 10.15.5 broke anything crucial? I had a stable and fully working system on 10.15.4, updated all kexts and Clover before installing the latest update. I couldn't get my system to boot, luckily I had a USB installer on 10.15.1 so I was able to rollback, then tried applying the combo update and same scenario. If I select the update partition in Clover the computer restarts right after showing the loading bar. I have tried booting in verbose + debug=0x100 to get an idea of what's causing it, but it still reboots and I don't see any KP information. Any ideas? Thanks

Update to Catalina 10.15.5 broke my onboard graphic (black screen) / I5 9600K / Gigabyte Z390M

Update to Catalina 10.15.5 broke my onboard graphic (black screen) / I5 9600K / Gigabyte Z390M

Hello,

I recently built a working Hackintosh, I had a lot of help from the german Hackintosh Forum. It was really a bit fricky with the graphics. However, it worked perfectly, until now for the update to 10.15.5. Unfortunately, I now get a black screen. It does not matter whether HDMI, DVI or DP. Currently I use DP.

My hardware:

  • Gigabyte Z390M Motherboard
  • Intel I5 9600K CPU
  • Intel UHD 630 with device id: 0x3E98

Bootloader is OpenCore 0.5.8 with WhateverGreen, Lilu, VirtualSMC ... (It's all up to date.)

My current working OC config within 10.15.4:

OC Config 10.15.4

My bios settings: https://www.hackintosh-forum.de/forum/thread/47969-intel-uhd-graphics-630-7-mb-2-monitore/?postID=593977#post593977 ("Eingeschaltet" is "ON"; "Ausgeschaltet" is "OFF")

This issue seems related: https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues/938
But for example https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues/938#issuecomment-636070348 doesnt work for me.

May someone have an idea? Thanks in advance

Clover to OpenCore on my accidental buy of Dell Optiplex 9020 USFF instead of SFF

Clover to OpenCore on my accidental buy of Dell Optiplex 9020 USFF instead of SFF

Supposed to buy a Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF (As advertised) for my homelab cluster. When I went down to collect the item, it was an USFF (Specs were also wrong). I didn't confront the seller as I got it for less than 100USD. I brought it home and thinking what to do with it. Decided to install Hackintosh since I have sold off my 2014 MBP last year.

Took me a week to setup clover in Jan and it was pretty stable. Decided to go OpenCore after reading this sub. I would say it was rather complicated for initial start. Many stuffs to read, but it's good as you understand what you trying to configure. Took me 3 days to finish reading and redo my hackintosh. I would say I enjoyed it. Thanks for the detailed explanation at dortania GitHub and this sub for driving me to use OpenCore.

Specs

  • i5-4590T
  • 16GB Memory
  • Intel Graphics HD 4600
  • Plextor 256GB SSD
  • BCM94360HMB for Bluetooth and Wifi (Continuity, AirDrop, Wifi) working perfectly. $30USD+ from eBay

Designaire z390 Clover to OC dual boot error

So I changed the clover setup to OC as OC seems to be better but the problem I'm running into now is really weird. When I'm at the picker screen and I choose windows it gives me a BSOD error with 0x0000000d and says PC/Device needs to be repaired. If i unplug the osx ssd and let it boot it, it boots into windows just fine. Not sure what the issue is. Any ideas? My EFI is here: https://github.com/nyichiban/EFI

I'm getting stuck booting up OpenCore with the USB, does this Log mean anything to anyone? or can I provide anything else to help work out where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

Looking for one on one support (will pay)

Tl,DR - Looking for someone with a lot of experience successfully building hackintoshes to help me get Catalina working on my machine.

I realize that I'm opening myself up to massive ridicule and criticism, which I'm willing to accept. I'm glad that this is a community of smart, passionate DIYers. The reality is that after having kids I just don't have time to spend hours scouring boards for the solutions to the problems that crop up. And I'd like to work directly with (and communicate directly with someone who knows what they're doing (and can help me trouble shoot).

I have some experience with running hackintoshes (using them since 2012, all tony mac stuff). I'm familiar with making edits using Clover Configurator, and can manage mounting EFIs and copying kexts.

I'd like to get running the latest version of Catalina running, 10.15.5, or if it's better 10.15.4

Here's my hardware:

  • i9 9900k
  • z390 Aorus Pro
  • XFX RX 580 (which I understand might be an issue with Catalina - I'm running two displays using display port and DVI with it). It was working fine with Mojave, but if I new card is necessary then I'll make it happen.
  • Would like headless iGPU working so that I can sidecar with my iPad
  • 64GB (4x16gb of RAM) - Vengeance LPX 64GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16
  • Samsung 860NVMe 500GB for OS (though I also have a 2TB Samsung 970 EVO plus for video work, I understand that there might need to be a firmware update for the 970)
  • I have an 850 watt power supply
  • I have an OEM equivalent wifi-bluetooth card which should work out of box - it was finicky with Mojave. Bluetooth worked well, but unlock with apple watch didn't work well - would be nice to have that working with Catalina.
  • I'm running 6 hard drives using SoftRAID - I'm pretty sure I can handle getting the softraid to work with OSX, it usually just involves disabling scanning entries
  • I have a fractal design R6 case with a USB-C port on the front that I need working.
  • I want an SSDT for the motherboard so that all USB ports are working properly at full speed.
  • I'd like the install to be as vanilla as possible so that I don't end up breaking it when updating (which is what happened when I tried updating to the most recent version of mojave).

If you're interested in helping me get things working send me a quote for how much you would charge. And if you also have a username on Tonymac send that along as well. I'd really appreciate working with someone who is extremely familiar with this and will be able to quickly troubleshoot things.

Thanks everyone!

'Anonymous' Hacktivist Group Threatens To Expose Crimes of Minneapolis Police

The group of hackers known as "Anonymous" has threatened to expose the many crimes of the Minneapolis Police. According to Forbes' latest report, the hacktivist group has surfaced in an unsurprising move to add its voice to those people criticizing the Minneapolis Police Department after the death of George Floyd on May 25 which involved members of their Department.

Interesting update in OC changelog: "Added prebuilt version of CrScreenshotDxe driver."

For those who haven't used CrScreenshot, it's a UEFI DXE from Nikolaj Schlej that takes screenshots from any GOP device and saves them to a writable FS (must be FAT32). It will make getting pre-OS grabs much, much easier. The prebuilt version included with OC 0.5.9 also changes the hotkey from the rather awkward default (LCtrl + LAlt + F12) to a simple F10.

https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/blob/16448b964eea648efbabac3d3702fffe1fdc3b3e/Platform/CrScreenshotDxe/README.md

Description

This DXE driver tries to register keyboard shortcut (F10) handler for all text input devices. The handler tries to find a writable FS preferring OpenCore root if available, finds primary GOP device, takes screenshot from it and saves the result as PNG files on that writable FS.

The main goal is to be able to make BIOS Setup screenshots for systems without serial console redirection support, but it can also be used to take screenshot from UEFI shell, UEFI apps and UEFI bootloaders.

To start the driver, you can either:

Install the driver via OpenCore

Integrate it into DXE volume of your UEFI firmware using UEFITool or any other suitable software (don't forget a DepEx section to prevent too early start)

Add it to an OptionROM of a PCIe device (will try it once I have a device needed)

Let BDS dispatcher load it by copying it to ESP and creating a DriverXXXX variable

Load it from UEFI Shell with load command

Build

It's a normal EDK2-compatible DXE driver, just add it to your package's DSC file to include in the build process.

Usage Load the driver, insert FAT32-formatted USB drive and press F10 to take screenshots from primary graphic console available at the moment.

To indicate it's status, the driver shows a small colored rectangle in top-left corner of the screen for half a second.

Rectangle color codes:

  • Yellow - no writable FS found, screenshot is not taken
  • Red - something went wrong, screenshot is not taken
  • Green - screnshot taken and saved to PNG file

Motherborad : msi A320M-A PRO MAX

Graphics card: Zotac GT710

CPU: Athlon 200GE

Would appreciate any pointers

Flashing red screen using opengl

I have the strangest issue with my graphics. I cannot run anything using opengl without a flashing red and black screen.

Seizure warning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvWUSd0ZyJs

This is what happens when I am doing any work with opengl.

I have this problem no matter the programming language used, but the fastest way to reproduce it is with Go.

Steps:
Install Homebrew
Install GoLang
Run the example here

Really confused about compiling my own GPI0 SSDT.

I've been following the OpenCore guide, but this part has went over my head. I compiled and decompiled the DSDT or whatever, I've found the part about the GPHD == zero, I've downloaded the SSDT-GPI0.dsl, and I'm just lost as to what I'm supposed to actually edit so I can recompile.

What obvious information am I missing here?

First Hackintosh Build Components

Hi Guys,

Building my first PC after a very long time and looking to build a hackintosh to retire my old iMac workhorse that’s getting a bit long in the tooth.

Can you please make recommendations of any component changes that would make this build better? Thanks!

Do you run multiple OS versions?

When I was on clover I was paranoid and had multiple installs on a couple SSDs. I’m pretty comfortable with my Opencore setup and I’m wondering what to do. Do you just say, do a CCC backup of your MacOS install? Do you have different mac versions installed? With opencore I feel like once I back up my EFI before updating I don’t really need to backup my drive other than redundancy. Was thinking maybe to to use my 3 SSDs for main hack > CCC backup > Mojave install. Or maybe that third drive can be a tinker drive for the next Mac version.

Not sure what to do and curious what people do. Or maybe you’re crazy and just have one install 🙂

8700k iGPU not outputting to display

I updated to Catalina 10.15.5 today on a Clover hackintosh. I updated all my kexts prior to installation and let things run as they normally would. Once the installation finished, my system rebooted, but nothing was displayed on my monitor. I can log in and see everything on a Remote Desktop application like Teamviewer and everything looks to be fine except for the display IORegistryExplorer shows no display under AppleIntelFramebuffer. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it.

MSI Z170 G45, Intel 6700k & Vega 56

Hey,

So I installed Catalina on my old Config (i5 7500 and ASUS MoBo) with Clover. As I now got a 4K Monitor I wanted to install Catalina again on the same SSD so I somehow tried to follow the Guide with OpenCore and completely wiped my old SSD with Clover on it and reinstalled Catalina the installer started and everything worked. But now at first if I still boot the SSD somehow Clover opens again. And if I boot the Installation the first time after the Install from the USB Stick with OpenCore the the Apple Logo shows and the loading bar completes but afterwards I just get a „RGB Noise“ which randomly turns black and starts again. That’s it. Does somebody knows why? And also somebody knows how Clover survived the wipe? As I think about retrying it tomorrow but don‘t know what to change.. :/

Thanks in advance!

i9-9900k Onboard Graphics

Hello, I have a computer that I built for gaming but am now interested in potentially dual booting MacOS and Windows. I have an NVidia GPU so I know I am unable to use Mojave or Catalina, but was wondering if the onboard i9-9900k Graphics would be useable to be able to still use Catalina if I disabled the NVidia GPU.

Asus Z270g + Vega 64 + I7-7700K | Catalina Vanilla Clover Success & Info/Guide

I've been running a Unibeast install of Mojave as my daily driver for a while now but it was unstable, I didn't like that it was closed source and Tonymacx86 is possibly one of the most toxic communities I've ever experienced. So I decided to join you guys instead and go for a Vanilla Clover install.

Ethernet, 3D Acc, Audio, Facetime, iMessage all works.

Used the standard vanilla clover guide:

https://hackintosh.gitbook.io/-r-hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide/

I basically just ran through the steps, installed and copied over the EFI, few notes though:

  • The Kaby Lake sample config.plist pretty much works out of the box (scroll to the bottom of the Kaby Lake guide page to download in full). I just opened it up in Clover Configurator, changed the ID to iMac 18,3 and generated a new serial. I did skim through the page though to find out what was actually being done in that config.plist and I urge you to do the same.
  • The branch of Clover Bootloader in the guide no longer has the options mentioned for the install process, I used the latest build from the GitHub repo instead

SSDT additions:

  • To get Catalina installer and OS to boot I put SSDT-EC.aml in EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched
  • To get USB 3.0 and all ports working I used a premade SSDT-UIAC.aml and also put it in EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched (yes I know, the shame, the shame, I will make my own eventually)

Kexts used:

  • AppleALC.kext
  • IntelMausiEthernet.kext
  • Lilu.kext
  • USBInjectAll.kext
  • VirtualSMC.kext
  • WhateverGreen.kext

And that's about it, hope this helps someone with similar hardware. I might try it with OpenCore in the future but seems to be rock solid for now and already boots 3x faster than the Unibeast install did.

Lag using usb wifi adapter (Ryzen 5 3600/B450/RX 5700 XT)

Hoping someone can give me a hand with this and point me in the right direction.

After successfully installing macOS Catalina 10.15.5, I went ahead and installed chris1111 drivers for my usb wifi adapter (Realtek 8811AU, https://github.com/chris1111/Wireless-USB-Adapter), after connecting to a network everything became super laggy but when I disconnect everything looks fine again.

Connecting to the internet works fine and I use the same adapter on my hackintosh laptop (Intel CPU and using Clover on Catalina 10.15.4, not sure if it makes a difference).

This is how it looks when i'm not connected to a network:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hacvsoirlregll6/normal.mov?dl=0

And this is how it looks when I am:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/txa85yugwrrf1vk/slow.mov?dl=0

I'm using OpenCore 0.5.8 and I followed this guide:

https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Desktop-Guide/

This is my part list:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600

MOTHERBOARD: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING OC

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16

SSD: Western Digital Green 120 GB

Here's a screenshot of my EFI folder:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1pbrlog9lb2iem7/efi.png?dl=0

And my config file:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/o6onfh2s5dg1cho/config.plist?dl=0

I'm unsure if this is a USB mapping issue or not, as all ports seem to be working and recognize anything I plug in. I read through the USB mapping guide from the same guide I used to configure OpenCore but all my ports are recognized and doesn't seem like I need to rename anything?

Should I even try to make it work or just buy a compatible wireless card?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Unable to install Catalina on a fresh Hackintosh

Hello,

I made a Hackintosh yesterday.

Here are the specs :

Gigabyte Z390 DESIGNARE Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT 8G SE

Intel Core i7-9700K (3.6 GHz / 4.9 GHz)

G.Skill Aegis 32 Go (2 x 16 Go) DDR4 3000 MHz CL16

Samsung SSD 860 QVO 2 To

I think we don't need to know more about the specs.

I made a USB Installation from Catalina (My MacBook Pro) I used https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...390-thunderbolt-3-i7-9700k-amd-rx-580.267551/ to set the BIOS Settings

But when booting from Clover to Mac OS Catalina Installation , I see the Apple Logo, it loads and goes black screen after... I can't do anything :(

I tried to make the USB stick again with Catalina, I injected ATI Drivers (don't know why but I tried)

When I use a DisplayPort with 4K monitor, it just goes black screen during apple logo

With HDMI 1080p , it just black screen and reboot to windows....

What can I do ? I'm a beginner on Hackintosh

Thanks in advance !

Unable to boot from USB (new install)

Unable to boot from USB (new install)

Probably a silly error on my part.. seems simple but I'm stuck for some reason..

I was able to boot from my windows installer and get that side of things setup, Ive removed the drive with windows on, installed another ready for mac os and I'm trying to boot from the OpenCore usb.

Have I missed something blatantly obvious? maybe I need another bios setting (although I was able to boot from windows10 EFI ok?)

Thanks!

Automatically fix bootmgfw.efi on Windows Update (script)

Hiya! When dual booting Windows and Hackintosh, one has to rename the Windows boot efi file so that the Clover boot file takes priority. However, every time Windows updates, this rename action is reversed, and once again Clover eats the dust.

I wrote a small script to be able to make this renaming process automated. The best part is that once set up, it works with all Windows updates!

This script runs in Windows, so all the setup is going to be in Windows.

This script first requires to have the EFI partition of your drive mounted as a drive letter in Windows. You can follow this guide using MiniTool Partition Wizard to do that. I mounted my EFI partition to E:. Whatever drive letter you use matters, as the script is going to need to know and mount that partition using that drive letter.

Once the EFI partition is setup, now you're ready to get the script running. First download the script from my GitHub gist. The .bat file should be placed somewhere that you can remember. I'd recommend somewhere in your Documents folder. Second, edit the script and change the drive letter to the letter you used for your EFI partition. Essentially, replace the line that is just E: with your letter (don't forget the colon!). Third, test the script by running it via CMD (by double clicking the .bat file). If you have your EFI partition open via MiniTool, you can see how the Windows bootmgfw.efi in EFI\Microsoft\Boot is now named bootmgfw-orig.efi.

Fun fact, I have the script rotate the .efi file once. But, I have the file extension as .txt so that the boot loader doesn't mistake the backup as an actual boot file.

Once the .bat is ensured to be working, lets get it to run after a Windows update! Follow the steps from this StackExchange answer to get the file to run after each update. Remember to select your neatly placed .bat file! It's also good practice to give the task a related name, and description!

Tahdah! I hope it works for y'all! Let me know if there is any issues!

Laptop WiFi

I just recently installed MacOS Catalina on a Dell latitude e5470. I've been having some problems finding an affordable wifi card. Everything I've read says get a BCM94360ng and I'd love to. The problem is I can only find listings for $45-50. It also seems like they've been marked up because they have OOB hackintosh experience. Could someone provide me with a link(if it exists) to a reasonably priced BCM94360ng?

Thanks

Tried to set a theme. How come my bootloader looks like this?

Clover can't be installed on disk

Hi all. I've run through the vanilla installer directions and keep running into the error that Clover can't be installed on my USB because it can only install the software on a disk that is running macOS. I formatted the USB correctly and ran through terminal to get mojave installed and bootable. I am doing this on a mac that is running Catalina. Could that be the problem? I am also using v5.0 of clover and all the examples I am seeing are using v2.4 or v2.5. Any help would be great!

Questions about Hackintoshing my Lenovo Thinkcentre E73

I just picked up a Lenovo Thinkcentre E73 with the intention of installing OSX Catilina for my first Hackintosh. I've been doing quite a bit of research on it and have decided to go with OpenCore installation. I was wondering what would be the best/cheapest PCI-E Wifi/Bluetooth card to go with? ethernet is available but I would like the airdrop experience. Also, the E73 currently has the I3-4150 installed, is it possible to upgrade this to i5 or i7 after the installation or should I do it before? does anyone have any good suggestions for guides or videos to recommend? I've been watching technolli and reading the opencore guide, wondering if there's anything else I should be looking at. Thanks!
