Dual boot macOS Monterey/Ventura on the same drive

Hi All,
I recently installed macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura to a dedicated drive on my multiboot system (Opencore 0.8.8). After installing macOS Monterey I added an APFS Volume for installing macOS Ventura but after completing it I noticed that opening Disk Utility in macOS Monterey the macOS Monterey volume appears as a System Snapshot whereas the macOS Ventura volume does not:

Conversely, the same behavior occurs when opening Disk Utility in macOS Ventura...

Catalina install reboots but doesn't finish

I want to upgrade my Mojave 10.14.4 machine to Catalina. While running under a normal boot, I started up the Catalina install file and it started up just fine, then counted down remaining minutes from about 26 to maybe 3 minutes, then wanted to reboot. So I rebooted. When it came back, it didn't apparently realize it was in the middle of an install so it did nothing else, and it still shows running Mojave 10.14.4.

Is there a way to kickstart the install back to finish up?

Cannot create a bootable Clover USB from Catalina

Hello!

Long time lurker, small time poster.

TL;DR
I cannot seem to create a bootable Clover USB stick with my Catalina 10.14.7 Disk Utilities.

I'm basically trying to get a latest version of Clover (r5151) onto a stick to boot and test update Big Sur on to a cloned Catalina drive, so as not to pollute my stable Catalina build. I do not want to go the route of OpenCore just yet because although I've briefly tried and appreciate the simplicity, I've also researched bad things of bricked...

Success with installing Monterey on intel DH77EB motherboard with intel i7 3770

Hello folks,

I have a following system description system

CPU : i7 3770
Motherboard : Intel DH77EB with H77 Express Chipset
Audio : Realtek ALC892 codec
Network : Intel Ethernet
RAM : 16 GB DDR3 RAM
GPU : NVIDIA GTX 650 2 GB DDR 5
KB + Mouse : Microsoft combo 600 wired
Monitor: : Samsung Full DH 1920 x 1080 px max resolution.

When following all the steps correctly the USB is now detected & bootable, and also the correct EFI...

Here are the steps on how to install Monterey on an Intel DH77EB motherboard with an Intel i7 3770:

1. **Download the Monterey installer.** You can download the Monterey installer from the Apple website.
2. **Create a bootable USB drive.** You can use a program like Etcher to create a bootable USB drive with the Monterey installer.
3. **Enter the BIOS.** When you turn on your computer, press the appropriate key to enter the BIOS. This key is usually F2, F10, or Delete.
4. **Change the boot order.** In the BIOS, change the boot order so that the USB drive is the first device to boot from.
5. **Boot from the USB drive.** Save your changes and exit the BIOS. Your computer will now boot from the USB drive.
6. **Follow the installer instructions.** The installer will guide you through the installation process.
7. **Enter your Apple ID and password.** You will need to enter your Apple ID and password to activate Monterey.
8. **Install updates.** Once Monterey is installed, you should install any available updates.

Here are some additional tips for installing Monterey on an Intel DH77EB motherboard with an Intel i7 3770:

* Make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Monterey. You can find the minimum system requirements on the Apple website.
* You may need to install additional drivers after Monterey is installed. You can find these drivers on the manufacturer's website.
* Monterey may not support all features on your computer. For example, you may not be able to use the Touch Bar or the Touch ID sensor.

If you have any problems installing Monterey, you can contact Apple support for help.

Asus Z370-I with onboard ASM3142 controller

Hello,
Has anyone got this controller to work with JBOD enclosure on Catalina? I have correct USB mapping and have no problems with USB sticks plugged in to gen2 port. However, when I plug in gen2 4xHDD enclosure it only detects single drive. When I plug it in to another port (usb3.1gen1) it detects all drives just fine. It seems like there is no multiport support for JBOD, but when I go to System Report>USB it shows 4 USB3.1 Bridges with speed of 10Gb each, which indicates the multiport is...

Resolving [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START] Error During Catalina Installation on Asus TUF Dash F15

Guide Step by Step:

  1. Understanding the Error: The [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START] is a common error in the Hackintosh process, often related to misconfigurations in EFI or issues with the hardware compatibility. Given your hardware specs, particularly the 12th Gen Intel Core i5 and NVIDIA GPU, there are specific considerations to address.

  2. Verify BIOS Settings:

    • Ensure that your BIOS is set up correctly for a Hackintosh.
    • Disable Secure Boot, Fast Boot, and VT-d (if not needed).
    • Set SATA to AHCI mode.
    • Enable XHCI Hand-Off.
    • If available, disable CFG-Lock or alternatively use the AppleCpuPmCfgLock and AppleXcpmCfgLock quirks in OpenCore.
  3. Review EFI Folder:

    • Ensure that your EFI folder is correctly structured for an Intel 12th Gen CPU.
    • Your EFI should include necessary kexts like VirtualSMC, Lilu, WhateverGreen, and appropriate network kexts for Intel Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
  4. CPU and GPU Compatibility:

    • The 12th Gen Intel CPUs require specific configurations. Ensure you are following the guide for Alder Lake processors.
    • macOS does not support NVIDIA GPUs from the Maxwell series onwards, including the GTX 3050. You will need to disable the NVIDIA GPU and rely on the integrated Intel graphics.
  5. Config.plist Checks:

    • Review your config.plist file thoroughly.
    • For 12th Gen Intel CPUs, ensure you're using the correct SMBIOS. Typically, models like iMac20,2 are used.
    • Verify that your config.plist has the correct settings under DeviceProperties to disable the NVIDIA GPU and enable the integrated graphics.
    • Check ACPI patches and make sure they are relevant to your specific hardware.
  6. SSDTs and DSDTs:

    • Confirm that you have the necessary SSDTs for your system. If you're not familiar with SSDT patching, use prebuilt ones from the OpenCore guide as a starting point.
    • Avoid using DSDTs from other systems as they are hardware-specific.
  7. Kexts and Drivers:

    • Ensure all your kexts are up to date.
    • Include kexts for Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but be aware that not all Intel wireless cards are supported in macOS.
  8. Debugging:

    • Use the debug version of OpenCore to get more detailed logs.
    • Check the OpenCore logs to pinpoint where the boot process is halting.
  9. Community Support:

    • If you're still stuck, consider seeking help from the Hackintosh community. Provide details of your hardware, EFI setup, and the steps you've already taken.
  10. Testing and Iteration:

    • Hackintoshing often requires multiple attempts and configurations. Make changes incrementally and test each change.
  11. Last Resort - Different macOS Version:

    • If Catalina continues to be problematic, consider trying a different version of macOS that might have better compatibility with your hardware.

Remember, building a Hackintosh is a process of trial and error, especially with newer hardware like yours. Patience and thoroughness are key.

Stuck on [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START]. Tried everything I have no idea what to do.

Hot plug ICH10 patch does not work

Hello! I'm trying to install Catalina (since the necessary software works on it, and so, and would continue to work in Sierra). A year ago, I managed to do this, hot plugging worked, I remember copying two kexts AHCIPortInjector and AHCIPort, but not all disks were initialized and eventually the system rebooted. This time nothing helps, including 4 patches in clover. Need help!

NEWB - COMMAND NOT FOUND

So I have a used MacBook Pro running Big Sur and have acquired and assembled all I need for my first build (better late than never?).

I am now attempting to create my USB installer and am getting a Command Not Found message from Terminal.
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

Is it possible my used laptop doesn't have the commands required?
