Internal screen works on Catalina, but not on Big Sur?

Hello, im writing this because i need help with my build. I have working Catalina Hack with internal screen working and with backlight working. I installed on another partition Big Sur, no changes in config.plist and Kexts, ACPI. (OC 074). And when trying to boot Big Sur internal screen goes black when booting. External screen is working, internal screen is recognized in "This Mac", and in ioregistry (apple backlight display).

Funny thing is - when i disable SSDT-PNLF.aml, my internal screen works again, but it is recognized as external, and backlight control doesnt work.

I tried prebuild SSDT-PLNF, i build my own - the same result. Any help is apprieciated"

Specs:

  • IGPU intel hd 4600 desktop
  • internal screen is connected via lvds
  • framebuffer is haswell desktop reccomended (from watevergreen guide)

A decision to make

Hello folks,

I just wanted to ask for your opinions on this matter. I am currently a happy owner of an M1 Macbook Air with 16gb of RAM. Before I nought the M1 Macbook Air, I have built a small form factor AMD build, featuring a Ryzen 3700x and 32gb of RAM. I felt really strange in the part of the Open process of generating S/Ns to use. I have also felt that adding a hackintosh build to my icloud account could potentially jeopardize my account. Nonetheless, I got OSX working on itI intend on doing music production with Logic Pro, and I decided to buy the M1 Macbook Air. The ITX system is currently used for gaming and as an unRaid server. I am going in the direction of Proxmox instead of unRaid in the near future. I swapped my 5700xt with a 3060TI very recently due to the GPU’s virtualization potential and better streaming capabilities/VR.

I have noticed a few quirks here and there on the M1 Macbook Air. I have a Sound Blaster G6 USB-based DAC/soundcard, and it stops working randomly. I noticed the DAC got very warm when that happens. I am being drawn to the Intel side, as I would think that an Intel Hackintosh build could potentially avoid any hiccups, and I would have a secondary system with a higher multi-core performance, as well as better cooling potential.

Do you think at this point in time an Intel ITX build with a 10900K and iGPU-only makes sense at this point in time? Would there be DRM issues or any other issues? I was reading the Opencore guide, and if my understanding is correct, I would not need to do anything extra about the 3060ti, as it is not supported.

Thank you all!

Decided to go to OpenCore and managed to screw things up.

Yesterday my wife had a sweet Hackintosh running Mojave and I decided to switch from the tonymacx Clover solution to an OpenCore Monterey. Specs below:

  • Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix Z370-i
  • CPU: i7 8700K (Coffee Lake)
  • RAM: Corsair CMK32GX4M2A2666C16 Vengeance LPX 32GB
  • Storage: SAMSUNG (MZ-V7E1T0BW) 970 EVO SSD 1TB (two)
  • GPU: Sapphire 11265-01-20G Radeon NITRO+ Rx 580
  • Wifi/BT: Broadcom Bcm94360cs2 Bcm94360cs2ax

I had some initial struggles but finally got the USB to go to the picker and actually launched the Monterey installer. I installed the macOS to the secondary drive as it was already empty and the install started normally. I saw the machine reboot, but could not see fast enough if it rebooted normally or if it panicked. Either way when it rebooted nothing worked, including booting again to the USB...

I rebuilt the USB again and now I am definitely stuck panicking after selecting the installer. I've got to be missing something stupid, but am definitely ready to scorched earth this, reformat the drives, and try again. Any help would be welcome.

Attached are some images I get after selecting the installer. Link is a zip file of my config.plist and the txt from the opencore boot.

Buying a new computer for hacintoshing

So my computer is dead and I will probably never buy a MacBook. So I need a new computer that is affordable and I can hackintosh it with no problems.

I found this computer, Dell Vostro 3501 and it seems good.

Did anyone hackintosh that computer before and if yes then is it good?

macOS Monterey won't install

Can't Boot Updating to OpenCore 0.7.4 from 0.6.6

I am trying to update to OpenCore 0.7.4 so I can upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey but I am unable to get OpenCore to boot from usb in order to test everything is working. I am really at a loss since I can't understand why OpenCore 0.7.4 gets stuck at [EB|LOG:EXITBS:START].

I have tried everything in the trouble shooting section on the OpenCore website but nothing has helped. Everything has worked flawlessly from 0.6.6 and earlier I don't understand why 0.7.4 isn't working at all.

My PC is i7-6700T HD530 integrated graphics and Asus Q170T motherboard.

Anyone have any ideas where to start?

[HELP] Struggling to get OC 0.6.6 to boot up Catalina for the 1st time

[HELP] Struggling to get OC 0.6.6 to boot up Catalina for the 1st time

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz (Skylake)

GPU: 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

MOTHERBOARD: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME B250-PRO

RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1065MHz

WIFI CARD: Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN

ETHERNET: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

OC VERSION: 0.6.6

macOS: Catalina (10.15)

Here's the issue:

When I first tried to make my Hackintosh (yesterday), I used OC 0.7.4 AND macOS Monterey from dortania.github.io. That failed, it didn't go to the kernel, and instead, it gave me the kernel error OCB: LoadImage Failed: Invalid image (I think... not 100% sure that was the error code but it's definitely along those lines).

Now, I watched a Youtube tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Cm30I_DEw) and I followed exactly what he did. I even used OC 0.6.6 in hopes it'd at least boot to recovery. But unfortunately, I got disappointed again. However, I'm making progress, now I'm getting a kernel panic and it's telling me to report it to the apple website towards the end of the panic.

I've attached my config.plist and whatever else is needed in order for me to get help. It'd be much appreciated and I'd be grateful if someone helps me get an even newer version of macOS.

Thank you :)

Graphics acceleration, RDRAND, Library validation, and FileVault 2 patches are courtesy of the Dortania team and their work with the OpenCore Legacy Patcher, a tool designed for running newer macOS on older Macs.

If you want to see the work I've done/have a place to start, I put my EFI on GitHub :)

Dortania guide question - Confused about SSDT-PLUG

Dortania guide question - Confused about SSDT-PLUG

Hi,

I got stuck in post install fixes section here.

  1. The guide says: "check the following: SSDT-PLUG.aml is both present and enabled" - I have SSDT-PLUG-DRTINA.aml present and enabled. Is that the same?
  2. The guide says: "SSDT-PLUG is set to the first thread of your CPU" - What is meant by this? Is that still in config file? I don't have another reference besides SSDT-PLUG-DRTINA.aml in config file as seen here:

https://preview.redd.it/fzov9lh6hqw71.png?width=1186&format=png&auto=webp&s=016a4080df10de4a52ca128efd969f720ee3a786

P.S. Maybe someone knows TDP-down frequency for i7-8700 processor?

Thanks.

VMware to Hackintosh

So I recently made a MacOS Virtual Machine by booting a Bootable MacOS USB with clover in it in VMware. And I just wanted to ask if there is any way I can convert the vmdk or this virtual machine on which the macos is installed to a physical disk so that I can make a Hackintosh.

Here are my Specs

OC 0.7.4 not booting any macOS install on Ryzen system (Big Sur to Monterey upgrade via App Store)

On my Ryzen 7 3700X & 5700 XT system, I cannot seem to get any macOS installation to boot successfully when I updated my EFI folder to OpenCore 0.7.4, while my USB installer based on a older build of OC boots into Big Sur just fine, while it cannot boot into the Monterey installer, which I would expect for its age.

The installer was made from a guide at the time by me from scratch, and it contains Catalina as I could not install Big Sur from the USB, I had to first install Catalina and then upgrade to Big Sur via an upgrade, which completed flawlessly.

As I want to upgrade to Monterey from Big Sur, I mounted the EFI folder, updated OC and touched up the config.plist and patches and updated other files to their latest versions. I also set the core counts for my CPU into the newest patches, and glanced over this post, but it seems I couldn't resolve the issue. I have a hunch that I might've missed something, but I can't figure out what that something is yet. Looking to get some pointers about whatever I missed and what not.

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: RX 5700 XT
  • RAM: Corsair 32GB (8GB*4)
  • Motherboard: Strix X370-F

Here's the latest log when attempting to boot the Monterey installer from the macOS drive; let me know if there's a specific file you wish to inspect and I can send it over (via your preferred method) within a few hours:

How to disable SIP and SBM if unable to boot into macOS?

Hi guys. I’m stuck!! OCLP was working flawlessly for me for my Big Sur to Monterey upgrade but for some dumb reason I decided to enable the SIP and SBM because I was hoping it would fix an unrelated issue and now my Mac is stuck after I rebooted it and saying it doesn’t support the current platform!!! 😭 Is there a way I can disable the SIP and SBM options if I’m unable to boot into macOS?

Mini-ITX board for an i5-10400 Hackintosh?

I have a spare i5-10400 that I'd like to use in a Mini-ITX format build. What's a good board to be as compatible as possible with MacOS? I know there were some ASRock boards recommended a few years ago, but I wanted to make sure before I pull the trigger. Nothing fancy, just functional!

Your computer shut down because of an issue

Hi, so I just upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey, with OC 0.7.4, and dual booting with Windows 11. No issues at all after the upgrade. But now I always get this dialog saying what the title says every time I just log in, if I have shut down or restarted the PC beforehand.

So, I think there's something causing a kernel panic whenever the macOS is shutting down, but I can't really pinpoint where the issue is. Any suggestions where I should look at? Thank you.

Auto update - now won't load

Auto update - now won't load

Catilina auto-restarted on me and tried to update to Big Sur. This has happened before, won't boot, so reinstalled Catalina. However, this time it is stating 'drive is locked' when trying to refresh OS in recovery mode. Is there any way to sort unlock or get files back?

When booting, it get to this and shuts down:

Boot screen before shut off.

Thank you for reading.

z490 Vision D lost WIFI and 1GB Ethernet with 0.7.4 upgrade

z490 Vision D lost WIFI and 1GB Ethernet with 0.7.4 upgrade

Hey there,

Have an interesting problem and am wondering if anyone else out there is experiencing the same two issues after upgrading to OC 0.7.4

1) Fenvi T919 wifi not working

I have a Fenvi T919 for native Bluetooth and WIFI support. Has worked natively OOB for all my previous OC installs. My last EFI was 0.7.1. Decided to updated to 0.7.4 and now Wifi is OFF. can't turn it on if I try and toggle it on in menu bar or system preferences.

Are the T919 still natively supported? Do I need a Broadcom kext?

Bluetooth works as my magic keyboard and trackpad are working fine.

2)

Following the dortania guide, My 2.5G intel ethernet port works. However, my 1gb ethernet port stopped working. I noticed in the guide that the i211 NIC now requires the SmallTreeIntel82576 kext

I've added that to my kexts folder and kernel in my config.plst But the ethernet controller will not connect. What's strange is the ethernet controller in system presences bounces back and forth, saying connected no IP to not plugged in.

I've tried both 1.2.5 and 1.3.0 versions but neither fix it. Is there an order this kext needs to load in prior to intelmausi? smaltreeintel kext also is not showing when I run command kextstat in terminal or browse extensions in hackintool.

Any ideas?

When I go back to my 0.7.1 EFI both issues stop presenting themselves.

no wifi

no 1gb lan

[SOLVED] How do I display unique disk names in the OpenCore boot picker screen (Big Sur)?

I am running Big Sur 11.0.1 using OpenCore 0.6.3. Using Carbon Copy Cloner, I back up my macOS boot disk (named Macintosh SSD) to three separate disks, which are all APFS formatted, bootable and named:
  • Daily M2 macOS Backup (internal M2)
  • Daily Backup (internal SSD)
  • Weekly Backup (external USB)
The problem is that in the OpenCore boot picker screen, here is what I see:

As you can see, it's impossible to tell which disk correlates to the actual boot disk I...
