My system is running on %100 vanilla 10.5.5 which i just updated it via software updater without any patch, drivers or tricks. If you have fully compatible systems just like mine and do not have any special drivers installed (sata drivers(ichx, ahci, jmicron, etc..), applehda kexts, atheros or broadcom wireless drivers, modified ati or nvidia kexts etc..), then you can select software update enabler and do the main system update via software updater easily (you will also need the appropriate efi-string installed for 10.5.5, nv or ati enablers do not work with it). Otherwise the best method for updating will be manually installing via apple 10.5.5 updater dmg (software updater enabler is still needed). You will need to backup the installed drivers before applying the updater. After install before reboot, you need to put the drivers back to their places with right mod and owner values or repair permissions after that. Do not forget that some drivers may not work on 10.5.5.
Read Pere's detailed update post.

you may need install it a few times to determine the best selections for your system, so be patient pls.

CHECK THE MD5 OF THE ISO FILE BEFORE MOUNTING OR BURNING IT TO DVD!!!
AFTER THE DOWNLOAD, MAKE SURE IT IS ''READ-ONLY'' VIA FILE INFO !!!

cheers..
