External M.2 NVME for Razer Blade 15" Hackintosh

External M.2 NVME for Razer Blade 15" Hackintosh

Hey everyone, I have been looking in to dualbooting MacOS and Windows on a Razer Blade 15" (See the specs I'm looking at in image below) I came across this guide on a forum and one of the prerequisites before the installation is to replace the stock SSD with a 970 EVO or 970 PRO. Now if you have bought or have looked in to buying a Razer Blade you might see the problem with this; opening up a laptop with what seems to be a fairly unreliable power supply and poor overall quality control might be a mistake. I want to keep this thing under warranty for as long as I can. So the big questions are:

Will I be able to store MacOS on an external SSD (using a M.2 to USB-C adapter with, say, a 970 EVO) and be able to both remove it when not in use AND maintain dual boot functionality? And if there are many additional steps in getting this configuration set up, will it be worth the headache?

Also, if the guide I attached is outdated or you guys have any improvements upon it please let me know.

Additional Notes: I will not need to use the 2060 with MacOS as my primary use is music production so using integrated graphics is all I need, and I'm sure it will save me the headache of getting an RTX card to work with MacOS.

Apple Stops Signing iOS 12.3 and iOS 12.3.1, Downgrades and Restores No Longer Possible

Apple has stopped signing iOS 12.3 and iOS 12.3.1 which means that it is no longer possible to downgrade or restore to those firmware versions.

Currently, Apple's latest firmware is iOS 12.4. If you accidentally update or restore, you'll find yourself on iOS 12.4. Developers have been seeded with iOS 13 beta 5.

Those interested in jailbreaking are typically advised to stay on the lowest firmware possible. The unc0ver jailbreak works on all pre-A12 devices devices up to iOS 12.2 whereas the chimera jailbreak also works on A12 devices.

Upgrade old hack to Mojave, or build new hack?

I have an old hack that has been a fantastic box for me. Its an I7-3770k on a GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP5 board with GTX 660 TI graphics card. Its currently running Yosemite and this was back in the day so I used tonymac tools to get it going.

The OS is old enough now that i'm no longer able to update my Adobe programs and this has started to become an issue. So the question is do I try and do a vanilla hack on this old machine or do I try and start from scratch and build a new machine. Ideally financially i'd like to keep this one going a bit longer. But I think my GPU is no longer compatible with Mojave? I'm not sure about the rest of the hardware. Thoughts are appreciated.

Spotify Announces 108 Million Premium Subscribers vs. Apple Music's 60 Million

Spotify announced financial results for Q2 2019 today revealing that it reached 108 million premium subscribers by June 30, 2019.

We finished Q2 with 108 million Premium Subscribers globally, up 31% Y/Y but below the midpoint of our guidance range of 107-110 million. Intake from our bi-annual campaign was in line with our expectations, monthly churn declined both sequentially and Y/Y to a record low 4.6%, and our winback percentage on gross ads reaccelerated Q/Q. However, intake into our Student product was below plan. As we have discussed previously, our goal is to perform at roughly the 70th percentile of our guidance range and we missed on subs. That’s on us. The good news is that the shortfall was execution related, rather than softness in the business, and we expect to make up the lost ground before year-end.

Spotify is expecting to have 110 - 114 million premium subscribers in Q3 and 120-125 million in Q4. For comparison, Apple Music had 60 million subscribers at the end of the June.

Has anyone ever installed MacOS on a ThinkPad T560?

I'm trying to dual boot my with windows, and I'm not quite sure if following the guides for the T460 is enough or if there are other config files that need to be changed.

If anyone has gotten Mojave or something similar on their T560 I'd really appreciate a few tips

DW1820a for laptop (yoga 730IWL)

I found a DW1820a for cheap on ebay (from HK but I'm not in a hurry to replace my wifi card, for now I can use wifi on windows and ethernet on macos with a dongle), my only doubt is that many sellers claim it not to be compatible with lenovo/hp laptops, is that true even on recent models like my 730 13 IWL? This one with bt 4.1 is the latest available for non macs, and there is no way of getting bt 5/160mhz wifi to work on a hackintosh, is that correct? My current one is a 9260 that supports both but I couldn't find any similiar for hackintoshes

Asrock Z390, 5 days later still no breaktrough

Mainboard: Asrock Z390 phantom gaming-itx BIOS 1.2 (tried also 1.6 with Asrock Patch) CPU: Intel i5-9600k RAM: 32GB 3000Mhz 2x16GB - Crucial Ballistix LT Sport GPU: Sapphinre RX 580 8GB Nitro (tried also only with iGPU) Wifi Modul: BCM94360CS2 Disk: Corsair NVME MP510 Force 500Gb (Tried also with sata Crucial MX300 500GB)

USB Stick Sandisk USB 3.0 32GB tried installation from USB 3.0 I/O port and Frontpanel USB 2.0 MacBook pro 13.3" for preparing usb Stick Mac OS Mojave 10.14.4 (Also tried with 10.14.6)

I installed to a second nvme Windows 10, where everything works like charm. Memtest was also done, so i think the hardware is okay.

I need your help, sorry to tell this but after 5 days of trying, ive got nothing to loose. The biggest problem seems to be random freezes during bootloader and installation.

I choose the Bios Settings from this thread https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-asrock-z390-phantom-gaming-itx-tb3-igpu-mojave-sff-build.277418/

Used Clover, Unibeast, changed BIOS, changed the memory fixes, nothing.

The biggest problem right now, are random freezes in the bootloader, if i make it, then sometimes it freezes in the disk utility. Once i got it running, got to next reboot phase and there i also got random freezes at 13minutes remaining or 3minutes remaining.

I would like to try a fresh start and step by step with you guys. Im allready there to pay someone for an running Asrock Z390 image.

So whats the base where i can fresh start of ?

VMware and Sierra ISO

I have a MBP and the official macOS DMG for Sierra, HS, and Mojave, converted to ISO files. I've attempted to follow guides to install on VMware but they always use that shared Google drive VMDK. I don't want to use that shared build.

Questions: Should the original DMG file being used be the "BaseSystem.dmg" or the App installer that's typically around 5-6GB?

How do I use the clean DMG converted to ISO files and have a successful boot with them?

I have tried modifying the .vmxf config files and I add smc.version = "0" but my boot still fails. So I may be using the wrong DMG file or missing a step somewhere.

I recently came across a post saying make sure I have another line in the .vmfx file firmware = "efi" and haven't had a chance to try that yet. I was going to try and follow this guide when I get home InsanelyMac VMware for Beginners

[Clover] Crash just as macOS Mojave installation is about to finish (console error log and reboot)

I've been trying to install Mojave 14.6 with Clover via USB on an asus motherboard. Clover crashes as it's nearing the end of the install of Mojave on my SSD. The console error flashes across the screen for a split second, not enough time to see what it is, reboots, and then I'm stuck with the 'Reboot and Select proper Boot device' error message.

I followed the Vanilla install guide: https://hackintosh.gitbook.io/-r-hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide/building-the-usb-installer

And when preparing my BIOS for booting, used this guide: https://nickwoodhams.com/x99-hackintosh-guide-asus-bios-settings/

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-M Micro ATX LGA1155

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Processor (Ivy Bridge)

GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8 GB NITRO+

config.plist: https://gist.github.com/BillNaai/59095ba8712921f51b251624f694b640

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Windows SSD not visible after cloning from HDD

So I've cloned my existing windows 10 HDD to a new Samsung 860 QVO SSD using Macrium. After cloning, the SSD doesn't show up in Clover as a Windows partition. Is there something I need to re-activate or re-build to make the cloned SSD visible in Clover?

Samsung Reports 56% Year Over Year Decline in Profits

Samsung reported its Q2 2019 results today posting a 56% year over year decline in profits. For the quarter ending June 30, 2019, Samsung announced KRW 56.13 trillion in consolidated quarterly revenue and KRW 6.6 trillion in quarterly operating profit.

The decline was largely due to a weak memory chip market.

The weakness and price declines in the memory chip market persisted as effects of inventory adjustments by major datacenter customers in the previous quarters continued, despite a limited recovery in demand.

The quarter would have been worse if not for a one time payment from Apple for failing to meet OLED panel order minimums.
