Is a Lenovo P17 hackintosh-able?

This all stems from the fact I can’t render a ProRes file from Resolve on a PC.

Thought a good work around is to install Ubuntu because I’ve rendered ProRes files from Resolve off of Linux at work. Unfortunately you need a dongle that is only supplied with 30k panels. So that’s a no go...

My last resort is MacOS. Wanted to see if I can possibly do a dual (or tri) boot with MacOS. Is my Lenovo P17 even capable of doing something like this?

Let me know what you guys think, Thanks!

I made another post but hadn’t post verbose, so here it is, the problem is that I am stuck on Apple logo when trying to boot into the installer

Could not upgrade from Catalina to BigSur

Sucessfully installed Catalina to my Lenovo Legion Y7000P with Open Core 0.6.4. Try to upgrade to Big Sur from Mac OS. It downloads the Big Sur installer, ask for reboot.

Once reboot, I select the Mac OS install option, it stuck at the apple logo with progress bar at 5%.

Do I need to do anything special for Big Sur update?

Also I tried to download the Big Sur recovery image to USB EFI folder directly with python script as in the open core installation guide. But it seems that Apple removed Big Sur recovery. I got Catalina version.

https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/installer-guide/winblows-install.html#downloading-macos

# Latest version # ie. Big Sur(11) python macrecovery.py -b Mac-E43C1C25D4880AD6 -m 00000000000000000 download # Note, Apple has temporarily removed Big Sur from the Recovery Catalog # Expect Apple to resolve this sometime after the holidays

Thanks.

Help, stuck at Apple logo, trying to install high Sierra, it’s my first Hackintosh install, but when I try to boot in the installer I get stuck at Apple logo, can anyone help?

Anyone install on X220 thinkpad with opencore?

Hey guys,

I have an X220 thinkpad running high sierra using the popular mcdonnelltech guide with clover.

I've been plagued with a UI freeze/crash issue and I'm curious if reinstalling using opencore may solve the problem.

I haven't been able to find much about opencore + x220 thinkpads. Is this HW simply too old? Has anyone gotten it to work?

Thanks,

I think I'm missing bootloader details

Hey all,

I'm sorry for not posting the entire spread of my system in my first post, but it's not relevant to what I'm having trouble with. At the moment I've followed this guide -- https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/ -- and am at the point of attempting to boot to my usb drive to attempt to start the install. I have used the bios to set the boot drive to not one, but two different usb drives, both of which do not boot and it just fails back to windows. I just recently disabled to securestart setting in the bios and all it does is throw an OCS error when one or both of the USB drives are installed, the windows volume boots normally.

So I'm quite certain I've screwed up the EFI setting somehow but I have followed the guide line for line so I would really appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone could offer.

Success! Dell Optiplex 790 Hackintosh (BIG SUR)

Success! Dell Optiplex 790 Hackintosh (BIG SUR)

I've done some hackintoshes and some have been failures, but this is the first time successfully booting Big Sur on my Hardware!

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2400s 2.5 Ghz (Sandy Bridge)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 DDR3

Network: Intel 82579LM PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet

Storage: Intel 250GB SSD

Ram: 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 Ram

Motherboard: OEM Dell Optiplex 790 Motherboard

OS Version: 11.1 (Currently moving to the beta)

Sound: Realtek ALC 269

Bootloader: OpenCore 0.6.4

BIOS Version: A22

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whats Working:

-Audio:

-Graphics

-Restart and Shutdown

-Network

------------------------------------

What doesn't work:

Sleep: Can't seem to get it to work but I don't really think its necessary

Handoff/Bluetooth: I could get it to work with a PCIE to Mini PCIE card with a Apple Approved Card

Thats pretty much It!

I can't link my EFI due to the rules and since not all EFI will work with your config. You will have to make your own with the Dortania Guide which i will link below.

How to solve Err(0xE) (and it is not the one in the Opencore documentation)

Hi all. I 've for a couple of days trying to install Big Sur in a System that is formed by:

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0

CPU: AMD FX-8350

GPU: RADEON RX 400

Trying to install: Big Sur

Using: Opencore 0.6.4

RAM: 16Gb

HD to install: SSD Samsung EVO 860 500Gb

I've been following several tutorials, but in particular here are the instructions to install Big Sur in an AMD FX system like mine, however a different GPU is used and probably also the motherboard. Anyway, I'm using same SSDT, drivers (openCanopy, openRuntime and VBoxHfs) and Kexts. During the process I found various errors that I could solve with other posts info, but I can not manage to install it and I suspect it is related with the error Err(0xE). I know there is a reference to this error but doesn't look like is the same as the one I have.

Here is an excerpt from the Opencore installation log where the error appears for the first time:

00:797 00:030 AAPL: #[EB.H.LV|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.GV boot-signature 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 00:828 00:030 AAPL: #[EB|WL] 0 0 0x01 0x01 23 0x0E 00:859 00:030 AAPL: #[EB.H.LV|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.GV boot-image-key 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 00:890 00:030 AAPL: #[EB|WL] 0 0 0x01 0x01 24 0x0E 00:921 00:030 AAPL: #[EB.H.LV|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.GV boot-image 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 00:952 00:031 AAPL: #[EB.H.LV|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.SV- boot-signature 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 00:983 00:031 AAPL: #[EB.H.LV|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.SV- boot-image-key 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 01:051 00:067 AAPL: #[EB.H.LV|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.SV- boot-image 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82

I'm getting mad since can't figure out why this error happens so all help is welcome. Thanks a million.

Disabling my Sapphire GPU lights?

I never installed windows, and I’d like to disable the LEDs to my video card “SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT”. I don’t know a lot about this card other than that it’s overpowered for Adobe and that I was high on hackintoshing and quarantine funds while getting no advice from friends until after I bought everything.

Anyway, The only tips I’ve seen via Google require installing windows applications. And I’d rather just take electrical tape to the light emitting areas. The lights are visible from where I sleep and that’s a no no.
