I want to upgrade my hackintosh to Catalina but nvidia cards are not supported. Will the integrated intel graphics be enough for Catalina?

Hello everyone! I have a hackintosh that I use for programming/app development. With the release of xCode 11, One requires to have macOS Catalina or Mojave as minimum OS requirement. Right now, I am using High Sierra. I waited all this time for new nvidia drivers but there seems to be no update about it. So my question is if I upgrade to Catalina, Will the integrated Intel graphics be good enough for development? Thanks!

OpenCore for HP Z600

I have read lots of articles and watched a bunch of videos, but I am unable to get an OpenCore USB to even boot my system.

I'm trying to understand the process from start to finish for any system. From identifying the hardware to creating the DSDT and editing the config.plist.

Most of the guides that I have seen don't give you enough information to do the whole process, they leave out 8-10 essential steps. Does anybody know of a detailed step by step guide that helps you get all of the information about what Kexts you need and the DSDT settings, etc that you need to get OpenCore working?

Thanks in advance.

Apple to Release High-End iPad and MacBook With Mini-LED Display Between Late 2020 and Mid 2021 [Report]

Apple is planning to release high-end iPad and MacBook devices that feature a Mini-LED display between late 2020 and mid 2021, reports TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The displays will use approximately 10,000 LEDs compared to 576 in Apple's upcoming Pro Display XDR. Each LED is less than 200 microns in size.

The iPad and MacBook models are expected to feature 10 to 12-inch and 15 to 17-inch display. Due to the cost of Mini-LED display components, they will likely be high-end devices such as the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro.

Losing WiFi when second display is connected

Since last night, my WiFi has been disconnecting and cannot connect at all if i connect a second display. Restart or shutdown completely then start doesn’t change anything. Unplugging the second display brings back WiFi.

My WiFi card is bcm94360cs2 which I believe is from an iMac.

Any ideas on how to diagnose? Thanks

Need some quick help

So I have an m.2 WiFi/BT adapter arriving originally for my hackintosh laptop however I don’t need it for that anymore as my dad is now using that laptop with windows.

I am going to use it in my desktop but I’m having trouble finding an antenna with pcie bracket. I seem to only find antennas with the cables but no bracket for the case.

My PC has m.2 which is why. - live in the UK

Can anyone recommend an m.2 adapter or antenna with bracket etc

Help would be appreciated

Should I even bother with switching to Vanilla? Very case-specific (Optiplex 7010)

Hello.

I used tonymac forums to convert my Dell Optiplex. There is a very specific Mojave guide for the model I own (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-install-high-sierra-or-mojave-on-the-dell-optiplex-7010-9010-desktop-pc-revision-ii.251736/) and I was able to upgrade from Mojave 10.14.5 to 10.14.6 without anything breaking.

I've been using this hacky for almost two months now without any big issues.

My rig is 3570k/16GB/HD4000 and I consider going the Vanilla route but since there is such a specific walkthrough already and all of the kexts gathered in one place, will it be worth it? I've already bought some MAC-specific software and would like to continue onwards to Catalina if it's possible - meaning I'm probably in for the long run.

Weird ACPI behaviour after DSDT patch (LAPTOP)

I'm new to the reddit hackintosh community so tell me if i got something wrong.

I tried editing my DSDT to support the battery level both manually and with a patch that matched with the configuration of my laptop. In both cases the ACPI screws up and stops reporting battery level (at 100 all the time) and estimated time on battery at firmware level( I mean it stops working even on Windows and Linux 100% not discharging at all on both, i need to force a shutdown by firing up the CPU and the two GPUs at maximum rate on battery, then the ACPI somehow restores itself and works on the other OSes). It happens every time I boot with these DSDT. I was using the patched DSDT in conjunction with the ACPI patch kext.

My specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ @ 3.500GHz
  • GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530 + Nvidia GeForce GTX 960m 4GB (Disabled trough clover hotpatch)
  • RAM: 16 GB (8+8 Hynix)
  • Motherboard/Laptop model: Hp Pavilion 15-bc014nl (X0M38EA)
  • Audio Codec: Realtek + AppleAlc with layout id: 13
  • Ethernet Card: Realtek RTL8111
  • Wifi/BT Card: (if available)
  • What guide/tool followed: RehabMan's Battery Indicator Guide (DSDT Patching) + MaciASL
  • What part I got an issue with: Battery indicator always at 100% every time I boot MacOs with patched DSDT, screws up ACPI in any OS
  • What files/config I am using: Clover hotpatch: disable nvidia gpu + skylake framebuffer fix
  • Extra Info: [Add something you need to point out about your setup]

Hackintosh does not work with one specific screen. Slate Raven Mti2

  • CPU: Intel i7-9700K
  • GPU: Integrated
  • Motherboard/Laptop model: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro

So I built a successful Hackintosh and everything is working fine, except now when I try to connect to my raven Mti2 (https://slatemt.com/raven-mti2/) with HDMI, it goes through the Apple logo on boot, then just cuts to a completely green screen? I am really stuck on this one because the machine works perfectly with any normal monitor, it just can't boot on this one. Does anyone have any ideas?

Won't boot when adding second RAM stick

Won't boot when adding second RAM stick

https://i.redd.it/r7h8vjqg7op31.jpg

I followed the vanilla guide, but I kept getting this error until I removed the RAM stick from slot 0 in my motherboard (has two slots). Both sticks work in slot 1 (so it's not a problem with the physical ram stick), but it will not boot with both sticks in. I've tried using OsxAptioFix3Drv-64, instead of AptioMemoryFix, but the same error occurs. The system boots perfectly (WiFi, Handoff, unlock with Apple Watch) without the second stick of ram, but it just won't work with it. The RAM shows up properly within the BIOS with two sticks and no overclocking is enabled. Has anyone seen this before?

Is my Mojave installer somehow broken? I can never even make it to the first install step in macOS.

Need help with setting up a Hackintosh...

Hey everyone, I’m not super great at this and my attempts at Hackintoshing have so far failed. Would any of you be willing to help me out? Maybe setup a Clover EFI and config plist based off my gear, walk me through the UEFI BIOS settings? I’d appreciate it immensely!

Quick question about VirtualSMC components

Hello,

I have switched from FakeSMC to VirtualSMC and I have a Ryzen 5 2600 build. I was wondering if you guys could explain or maybe point me in the right direction.

I have added the VirtualSMC kext to my clover kexts/other/ folder. I'm trying to find out what these other kexts are used for and if I should include them in my kext folder.

SMCBatteryManager, SMCLightSensor, SMCProcessor, and SMCSuperIO

Also, what are the dylib files and do I need them for anything?

Thanks a lot!!

Internet recovery install method and this happens and the laptop restarts.

Cases worthy of my next hackintosh?

I love the apple aesthetic, but for my next machine I don’t want to cut up a cheese grater Mac while still hoping to wrap it in something sexy that screams Apple. I think that this is a list a lot of people could like and contribute to, and maybe there should a thread every year?

My current build is running Mojave in a Phanteks Evolv, and as much as I love it I’m ready to stare at something new.

Replies should probably include the motherboard form factor for others, but I honestly don’t care, my biggest needs as a developer are speed, high clocks and NVMe, if an ITX case is sexy enough I’ll forgo a GPU.

Is dual booting Windows 10 and macOS feasible on this build?

I have a build running Windows 10 currently and I'm interested in getting macOS as a second operating system on here. Full specs are below. I know that the 2080 is completely unsupported but would it be possible for macOS to use the Intel graphics on the mobo? Which of the MANY guides out there should I be following for this? Thanks everyone.

Hackintosh vs Dual booting

So I need some help. What is the main difference and advantages as well as disadvantages of each? Like what can you get from a hackintosh that dual booting windows and mac os can't give you? As well as the other way around. And which is more preferable, sticking with dual booting or going for a Hackintosh?

I'm deciding whether to use an intel i-5 9400 or ryzen 5 2600 for the system with an rx580 gpu plugged in

Has anybody had problems booting from OpenCore USB?

After getting everything working on my Mojave Hackintosh I decided to try OpenCore instead of Clover by following this guide. My problem is that the USB I created isn't seen by my BIOS as a UEFI drive. Just to see what happened I tried replacing Clover on my main EFI partition instead of a USB drive and it would let me boot into that drive but it would boot into an empty Clover, without any of the customisation I've done to it, instead of OpenCore.

Does anybody know what might be happening to cause this? I haven't found anyone with the same problem and I'm a bit lost as where to start.

My OpenCore config and my EFI folder.

iPhone 11/Pro/Max Wi-Fi 6 Speed Test [Video]

This is a test comparing the Wi-Fi speeds of the iPhone 11 Pro Max vs. iPhone 11 Pro vs. iPhone 11 vs. iPhone XS Max.

The new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max feature support for Wi-Fi 6, the next generation of Wi-Fi. The technology offers significant capacity, performance, and latency improvements over 802.11ac.

In previous years we've used an AirPort Extreme for Wi-Fi speed testing; however, since that router is discontinued and doesn't feature Wi-Fi 6 support, we've used the Netgear Nighthawk AX6000 (which is currently on sale for 26% off) for this test. A Mac Pro was wired directly to the router using link aggregation for a max theoretical transfer speed of 2Gbps.

MacOS on a Lenovo Ideapad 530s 14-ARR?

I've been following this subreddit for quite some time now, and I'm interested in wether or not, I will be able to make a hackintosh out of my laptop. I see that many people have had success recently, with AMD CPU's and that is what inspired me to make this post, because my laptop has a Ryzen 5 2500u. Any help is much appreciated.

Halfdan.
