OpenCore and Catalina Question.

Hello,

I followed the guide for OpenCore Vanilla Guide. I have a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with a RX 580 Graphics card.

I noticed that the AMD Ryzen configuration includes support for Catalina. Does that mean that I will be able to upgrade to Catalina pretty easily?

Also, do you guys know if the Kexts will work with Catalina. AppleALC, VirtualSMC, Lilu, WhateverGreen, and RTL8111 ?

Thanks a lot!

Overpowered Laptop 17+ (walmart) * Catalina update*

Old thread was closed, but I wanted to update on this device. I am successfully running the latest Catalina beta 10 with full trackpad support, audio, video (intel 630), and bluetooth/wifi (with DW1560 swap). There is an issue at boot where you have to wait exactly 3 minutes before the backlight initializes, but it's a minor annoyance to say the least. EFI I'm using (https://gofile.io/?c=75O4F8)

Hangs on screen (text) before Mojave loads up?

A huge thank you to a redditor here inside of this r/hackintosh group for walking me through and helping me get my Vanilla Mojave setup.

Unfortunately, one issue is that during start up, the screen hangs after some string of text. It hangs on this screen for 30-45seconds.

Here's the video:

Could it have something to do with my audio? As I see the word Audio in there.

I want to upgrade my hackintosh to Catalina but nvidia cards are not supported. Will the integrated intel graphics be enough for Catalina?

Hello everyone! I have a hackintosh that I use for programming/app development. With the release of xCode 11, One requires to have macOS Catalina or Mojave as minimum OS requirement. Right now, I am using High Sierra. I waited all this time for new nvidia drivers but there seems to be no update about it. So my question is if I upgrade to Catalina, Will the integrated Intel graphics be good enough for development? Thanks!

OpenCore for HP Z600

I have read lots of articles and watched a bunch of videos, but I am unable to get an OpenCore USB to even boot my system.

I'm trying to understand the process from start to finish for any system. From identifying the hardware to creating the DSDT and editing the config.plist.

Most of the guides that I have seen don't give you enough information to do the whole process, they leave out 8-10 essential steps. Does anybody know of a detailed step by step guide that helps you get all of the information about what Kexts you need and the DSDT settings, etc that you need to get OpenCore working?

Thanks in advance.

Apple to Release High-End iPad and MacBook With Mini-LED Display Between Late 2020 and Mid 2021 [Report]

Apple is planning to release high-end iPad and MacBook devices that feature a Mini-LED display between late 2020 and mid 2021, reports TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The displays will use approximately 10,000 LEDs compared to 576 in Apple's upcoming Pro Display XDR. Each LED is less than 200 microns in size.

The iPad and MacBook models are expected to feature 10 to 12-inch and 15 to 17-inch display. Due to the cost of Mini-LED display components, they will likely be high-end devices such as the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro.
