Hey everyone,
While trying to sort out some Bluetooth kext issues, I had macOS Sonoma 15.6 running flawlessly on my system. I was using OpenCore 0.8.8 and decided (without really thinking much of it) to use the built-in updater to upgrade OpenCore. It went to version 1.X.X — I don’t remember the exact version, but it was the latest available via the updater.
After rebooting, I noticed that the "Reset NVRAM" option is missing from the OpenCore boot picker. The only options I now see are:
- Windows
- Install macOS
- macOS
- Recovery.dmg
Windows still boots fine, which is great, but no matter what macOS-related option I choose, I get the same error (screenshot will be attached).
System Specs:
- Laptop: ASUS ROG GL753V
- CPU: Intel i7-7700HQ (Kaby Lake)
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (disabled in macOS)
- macOS version: Sonoma 15.6
- Bootloader: OpenCore (was 0.8.8, now auto-updated to 1.X.X)
I do have:
- A copy of my previous working
config.plist
- A full Time Machine backup on a separate partition
- Another drive that has an EFI folder on it — not sure if it's correctly set up though
I'm not sure where to start. Should I try to downgrade OpenCore? Can I somehow get back into macOS to restore from Time Machine? How do I use the old config, or rebuild my EFI folder to match the old setup?
Any advice, troubleshooting steps, or pointers to a good downgrade guide would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
