I apologize if this has been asked and answered many times, but I can't seem to find a straightforward answer to this problem. I am attempting to update a late 2010 Macbook Air from High Sierra to Monterey. I have followed all the steps to create the installer, but when I attempt to execute the update, I receive the message that my hard drive has "SMART errors" and the install is not allowed to proceed. Disk Utility reports S.M.A.R.T. status as "Not Supported". I have tried a number of recommended steps, including wiping the hard drive and reinstalling High Sierra, but the message has not changed. Is there any workaround or way to bypass this SMART check? The computer is old, but it has never been a primary computer. It runs High Sierra just fine, so I don't understand why it's not allowing the upgrade in operating system. Thanks for any advice, insight, etc.
