Fixing Standby/Hibernation Issues on MacBook 12" 2017 Running Sonoma

Guide:

If you're experiencing standby/hibernation issues on your 2017 MacBook 12" running macOS Sonoma, follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. Check System Preferences:

    • Go to "System Preferences" > "Energy Saver" and ensure that the "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" option is enabled.
    • Also, check the settings under "Battery" and "Power Adapter" tabs to make sure they align with your preferences.
  2. Reset SMC and NVRAM:

    • Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and Non-Volatile Random-Access Memory (NVRAM) on your MacBook.
    • Instructions for resetting the SMC and NVRAM can be found on Apple's support website or by searching online for your specific MacBook model.
  3. Check for Software Updates:

    • Ensure that your MacBook is running the latest version of macOS Sonoma available.
    • Check for any pending software updates and install them if available, as they may include fixes for known issues.
  4. Inspect Console Logs:

    • Open the Console application (located in Applications > Utilities) and navigate to the system logs.
    • Look for any error messages or warnings related to standby/hibernation issues that may provide clues about the root cause.
  5. Review OCLP Settings:

    • If you're using OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP), review the settings related to standby/hibernation.
    • Experiment with different configurations, such as enabling or disabling the hibernation workaround, to see if it has any effect on the issue.
  6. Check for Third-Party Software:

    • Identify any third-party software or utilities installed on your MacBook that may interfere with standby/hibernation.
    • Temporarily disable or uninstall these applications to see if they are causing the problem.
  7. Perform Hardware Diagnostics:

    • Run Apple's built-in hardware diagnostics tool to check for any hardware issues that may be affecting standby/hibernation.
    • Restart your MacBook and hold down the "D" key during startup to initiate the diagnostics process.
  8. Contact Apple Support:

    • If the issue persists after trying the above steps, consider reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance.
    • Provide them with detailed information about the problem and any troubleshooting steps you've already taken.

By following these steps and potentially contacting Apple Support, you can work towards resolving the standby/hibernation issues on your MacBook 12" 2017 running macOS Sonoma.

MacBook 12 2017 Standby/hibernation Issues

Is anybody using Sonoma on a 2017 Macbook 12“ and Standby/ Hybernation is working for you? I have the issuse that as soon as my Macbook is in sleep for longer than 3 hours, it does not wake up again but instead reboots. In system logs there is no indication about what failed. The only thing that helps is to disable standby but then obviously the macbook never enters into hibernation and constantly draws power. I already tried that hibernation workaround in OCLP settings without any impact whatsoever. Happend with OCLP 1.3 and Sonoma 14.3 and also with 1.4.2/14.4 now. I haven't used OCLP before that so effectively standby/hibernation has never worked for me on that machine.
