My current configuration is
- Mobo: Gigabyte Z370M-D3H
- Graphics: 16 GB Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
- CPU: Intel Core i7 8700
- PSU: Corsair RM650X
- RAM: 32GB = 2x16GB (1x 16384MB) Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-2400
- Case: Jonsbo UMX3
I have dual boot, on 2 separated drives, with MacOS Ventura and Windows 10. I'm using the latest OpenCore version. Everything has been working pretty well for the time being, but I'd like to upgrade the CPU with the latest working Intel architecture before the support slowly dies out in the future.
As I think the rest of my components will be compatible with a new configuration, I'm thinking of just upgrading the CPU, so I'll need to change the motherboard as well.
First of all I'd like to know if you think it's worth to make the change, and obviously if you have any suggestion on a mATX motherboard/CPU combination that would allow me to keep all the other components working.
Second, I'd like to know how easy it is to swap motherboard and CPU without having to re-install everything from scratch. I'm guessing that I'll have to change the OpenCore configuration for the new architecture, but then everything should just work if I use my "old" SSD drives with Windows and MacOS installed?
