Fixing Realtek RTL8125 Ethernet Issue on MSI X570 Meg Unify Motherboard in macOS Monterey

Guide:

Introduction: If you're experiencing issues with the Realtek RTL8125 Ethernet not working on your MSI X570 Meg Unify motherboard after updating to macOS Monterey, you're not alone. This guide will help you troubleshoot and fix the issue to get your Ethernet connection up and running again.

Step 1: Verify Kext Installation Ensure that the RealtekRTL8125.kext (or equivalent) is correctly installed in your macOS Monterey system. You can verify this by checking the /Library/Extensions folder or using a kext management tool.

Step 2: Check System Information Open "System Information" on your macOS Monterey system and navigate to the "Ethernet Cards" section. Check if the Realtek RTL8125 Ethernet controller is detected. If not, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Update Kexts and Drivers Make sure you have the latest version of the Realtek RTL8125 Ethernet kext compatible with macOS Monterey. Check for updates on relevant Hackintosh forums, GitHub repositories, or other sources. Install any available updates and reboot your system.

Step 4: Reset Network Settings Resetting network settings can sometimes resolve Ethernet connectivity issues. Go to "System Preferences" > "Network" and remove any existing Ethernet configurations. Then, restart your computer and reconfigure the Ethernet connection.

Step 5: Verify BIOS Settings Access your motherboard's BIOS settings and ensure that the onboard Ethernet controller is enabled. Look for any settings related to LAN or Ethernet and make sure they are configured correctly. Save changes and reboot your system.

Step 6: Check for Hardware Issues If the Ethernet controller still doesn't work, there might be a hardware issue with the motherboard or Ethernet port. Try connecting to a different Ethernet port if available. If the issue persists, consider testing the motherboard with a different operating system or contacting MSI support for further assistance.

Step 7: Community Support and Resources Join online communities and forums dedicated to Hackintosh users, such as InsanelyMac or Reddit's r/Hackintosh. Seek help from experienced users who may have encountered similar issues and found solutions.

Conclusion: By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and fix the Realtek RTL8125 Ethernet issue on your MSI X570 Meg Unify motherboard running macOS Monterey. Remember to always backup your system before making significant changes, and seek assistance from the community if needed.
