Troubleshooting USB Boot Issues for AMD Ryzen Hackintosh on Lenovo Legion 5 15arh05

Guide:

Introduction: Creating a Hackintosh on AMD Ryzen laptops like the Legion 5 15arh05 can be challenging, and USB boot issues are common. If you're facing difficulties getting OpenCore to boot from your USB, this guide will help you identify and resolve the problem.

Step 1: Verify BIOS Settings:

  • Double-check that your BIOS settings are configured correctly. Ensure Secure Boot is disabled, and Boot Mode is set to UEFI.

Step 2: USB Creation:

  • Confirm that your USB is formatted correctly. It should be formatted as GUID Partition Map with a macOS Extended (Journaled) filesystem.
  • Ensure that you have the necessary OpenCore files in the EFI partition of your USB.

Step 3: Verify config.plist:

  • Open your config.plist file and carefully review the settings.
  • Pay close attention to the ACPI, Booter, DeviceProperties, Kernel, Misc, NVRAM, and PlatformInfo sections.
  • Confirm that you have set up the necessary properties for your AMD Ryzen processor.

Step 4: Check SMBIOS Configuration:

  • Verify that the SMBIOS settings in your config.plist match your hardware, especially the MacBookPro16,1 or a suitable MacBook SMBIOS for your Ryzen laptop.

Step 5: Graphics Configuration:

  • For Nvidia GTX 1650, ensure that your config.plist has the appropriate settings in the NVRAM and DeviceProperties sections.

Step 6: WiFi Compatibility:

  • Intel WiFi 6E AX200 may not be natively supported. Consider using a compatible USB WiFi adapter or replacing the internal card.

Step 7: Kernel and Kexts:

  • Confirm that you have the necessary kernel extensions (kexts) in the EFI/OC/Kexts folder.
  • Make sure the versions of the kexts are compatible with your macOS version.

Step 8: USB Port Configuration:

  • Some laptops require USB port mapping. Refer to Dortania's guide for USB port mapping, especially for AMD systems.

Step 9: Debugging with Verbose Boot:

  • Add the -v (verbose) boot flag to your config.plist. This helps identify any issues during the boot process.

Step 10: Community Support:

  • Seek assistance on Hackintosh forums or communities. Share details about your issue, hardware specifications, and config.plist for targeted advice.

Conclusion: Troubleshooting USB boot issues for your Ryzen Hackintosh requires careful inspection of your BIOS settings, USB configuration, and config.plist. By following these steps and seeking community support, you can identify and resolve the problem, ensuring a successful boot into OpenCore for your Lenovo Legion 5 15arh05 Hackintosh. Good luck!

USB Boot trouble

I'm having a problem getting OpenCore for my laptop. When I try to boot into the USB containing the EFI and macrecovery folder, only the option for Windows shows up.

I tried to recreate the EFI file (3 times) and try again, but that didn't work. Then,i updated my BIOS (My BIOS settings are Boot Secure: Disabled, Boot Mode: UEFI) to the latest possible version for my machine, but that didn't work either (so drained).

At this point, I think it's probably due to the config.plist file being set up incorrectly. I've tried and tried again, but it's not working. Can anyone help me check where the problem is?

This’s my config file

And this’s spec: Legion 5 15arh05 - CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H - GPU: Nvidia GTX 1650 - RAM: 16GB Samsung DDR4 3200MHz - Disk: SSD Samsung 512GB (for Wins) + WD SN850 (for Mac) - WIFI: Intel Wifi 6E AX200 160MHz - … more
