A1419 27" 5k - is this worth it for my parents computer? (or stick to catalina)

Doing some upgrades to make this mac functional for them. I swapped in a new SSD, and I also added more RAM.

Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina is pretty out of date, so I was considering installing a new OS as well.

My options are:

• stay on Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina
• Ventura with OpenCore
• Sonoma with OpenCore
• Linux Mint

I think they would probably prefer MacOS, just not sure if using OpenCore is going to need me to mess with it every so often.

Does everything work? Is ventura better at the moment? Are updates going to break stuff?
