Hi everyone. This is my new iMac20,2. I needed to finally replace my 2010 Mac Pro 5,1. Although it was a beast it was time to retire her. I almost jumped on the new MacBook Pro with the M1 max, but I am a heavy gamer and need to be able to dual boot windows.
It was surprisingly more challenging to install than I had anticipated it would’ve been. I had OC on the 5,1 and that was a breeze. I had followed the Dortania guide for Comet Lake to a Tee and I guess it’s not fully updated.
My issues seem to have come down to incorrect bios setting. After crying for help from fellow hackintoshers here (btw you guys are awesome) and googling for days, I stumbled across this post on tonymacx86 of a user who had similar issues. I followed their bios settings line by line plus instruction on my efi from u/enigmahack and SUCCESS!!!.
What’s not working: My sleep/wake. Screens stays off. But I may need to redo the usbmap.
BT mouse and keyboard are shaky at best.
And I get get American Megatrends safe POST. I’ve initiated the disable rtc and added the base Args but still on going. It Does this with boot camp switch but still automatically switches Mac and windows through the EFI boot picker.
What’s working: Handoff/airdrop, asus xc100c Ethernet with patch. Boot camp switch which is surprising. iServices work well.
Stable other than when switching boots.
Overall I’m excited to work this new machine for the next few years.
