Hey so I bought a Fledging SSD (correct SSD for my iMac) for my iMac and I'm getting a kernel panic when waking from sleep. (*Error message below)
Hardware:
- Late 2015 5k 27” iMac (EMC: 2834)
Troubleshooting:
- Disabled Put hard disks to sleep wen possible, Enable Power Nap in Energy Saver settings.
- Booting into safe mode still causes issue
- Reset NVRAM & SMC
- Ran First Aid in Disk Utility in Internet Recovery Mode (Passed)
- Ran Apple Diagnostics. Got an SSD error: VDH002 "There may be an issue with a storage device. " But it does run fine. super fast.
Extra Info:
- My current BootROM installed is: 176.0.0.0.0
- FYI, I ran an SSD speed test and got:
1550MB/s write
1900MB/s read
Which is much greater than advertised speeds lol.
- I ended up reinstalling MacOS via Internet Recovery and still get the same issue.
- All 4 motherboard diagnostic LEDs turn on.
- The iMac version came with a “Fusion drive” which is just a 1TB HDD and a 32GB blade SSD. After installing the SSD, I left the SATA cable installed on the motherboard. Pretty sure something that simple wouldn’t cause the kernel panic but just FYI. Unless maybe it just thinks it also has to boot up a HDD while waking from sleep and can't and just doesn't know what to do?
Questions:
If I brought this in to Apple to fix would they offer to fix it?
Any ideas what the issue is?
