Can't even boot into Clover

Hi,

I'm trying to boot my hackintosh usb, but I can't even get to the bootloader (clover). I tried creating an empty usb just with clover, but that still didn't work, same result: blinking cursor... I have pretty old hardware, only BIOS, not UEFI. When configuring clover, I unchecked create only for uefi (or whatever its called). What could be the problem here?
