Vastly over-sharpened display

I have a mackintosh that was working well, but my old graphics card (GTX 645) failed. I replaced the card with an AMD RX570 based card by MSI, and I now find that one of my monitors suffers from dreadful hails round everything - it's like the entire screen has been over-sharpened in Photoshop!

The display looks perfect when I boot the PC into Windows

My kext/Other folder in EFI has

  • AppleALC.kext
  • CodeCommander.kext
  • FakeSMC.kext
  • Lilu.kext
  • Realtekrtl811.kext
  • SmallTreeIntel.kext
  • USBInjectAll.kext
  • WhateverGreen.kext
  • XHCI-200-series-injector.kext

all are - AFAIK - up-to-date

kext/10.14 is empty, and I am running Mojave.

I have checked accessibility settings, I do not have high contrast set.

Any suggestions as to where I start looking?

Thank you!

PS I posted a version of this post earlier today, but deleted it because I hadn't even gone to the effort of finding out what was in my kext folder. To the two posters who did reply before I deleted it, I apologise!
