USB-C hotplug?

Hey all, I'm hoping for some help to get USB-C hotplug working on my ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 ITX motherboard. Right now, any device in the TB3/USB-C port is only detected if it's plugged in before boot. If I plug in something after I've booted, the devices seem to get power but aren't detected. I've tried plugging in USB drives with a Type-C connector, and I've tried my USB-C Luna Display (which I would really love to get working with hotplug, because it does a disconnect/reconnect to enable Retina resolution, so it doesn't matter if I plug it in before booting).

I know that Thunderbolt 3 hotplug doesn't work, and that's fine, but it seems like USB-C should? I remember seeing successes around the internet, or maybe I'm remembering wrong. My hackintosh otherwise has been running great, and the other USB ports work fine with the patched SSDT, so I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated!

4K monitor over DisplayPort

iMac18,1 system definition
