I’ve seen lots of posts saying that laptops with optimus have to disable the dedicated GPUs to work properly. But I want to know more about this.
Question 1: What would happen on a laptop with G-Sync?
On a laptop with G-Sync, you don’t get optimus, so do you still have to disable the dedicated GPU or would it just work like on a 15” MacBook Pro(given that you installed the right drivers, probably web drivers)? Also, would G-Sync work in macOS? I never heard about G-Sync support on macOS, and I don’t know if it has to do with the operating system either.
Question 2: What would happen on a Kaby Lake-G laptop?
Kaby Lake-G processors have integrated graphics and RX Vega M GPUs inside, and due to it being an AMD chip, it doesn’t have optimus. What would happen on those laptops? Would they work like on a MacBook Pro 15” if drivers are installed?
These are all the questions I have right now, but if I come up with more, I’ll add them.
