FCPX not using all 12 threads?

I have a Hackintosh with a Xeon X5675 (6 cores, 12 threads). I can see with htop that the machine is recognizing all 12 threads, but it seems final cut only uses 6 of them when rendering. Is this normal behavior for FCPX or is there some setting that is set improperly? Thanks.
