Messed up my computer: only blank screen on boot, mid 2014 13" MBP

Things are messed up, and I'm not sure how to recover. I had a working computer with OCLP and Ventura. My computer is a mid 2014 13" MBP. With Ventura, I had a minor issue that the computer wouldn't resume after sleeping for a while (waking from hibernation issue, I believe), but I solved that by disabling that deep sleep level. So, overall things were working alright.

My troubles began with a battery replacement attempt. The existing cells had swelled up, so I bought a replacement kit to do the replacement on my own. I thought that the replacement procedure went well. The computer booted up, and everything seemed operational. Then, I noticed that the WiFi wasn't working. There was an exclamation mark (!) through the symbol in the status bar, and I couldn't toggle WiFi on and off. Since I had a dual boot with Windows on the computer, I tried rebooting into windows to check on things, where I also saw that the WiFi wasn't working.

I didn't think that I messed up the wifi card when I was replacing the battery, but I did open the computer up again to look at the wifi card and its three cables. Things looked fine.

This is where I did several operations at once and seemed to have irretrievably messed up the computer's ability to boot. Unfortunately, I wasn't so systematic, and I don't remember the exact order of things I did.

  • I tried reseting the SMC. Upon turning the computer on, I only saw a blank (black) screen with the backlight on. I could shut the lid, and the backlight would remain on. The computer would remain stuck like this
  • I also tried point reseting the PRAM, which was maybe not good because I think that the information to boot into Ventura is stored there by OCLP?
  • I tried safe mode: this gave me the Prohibited symbol (circle with slash through it), indicating that the macos version was incompatible with my computer. Nothing else would happen after this point in the Safe Mode boot.
  • I plugged in the OCLP flashed USB drive I used to install Ventura. I wasn't able to pull up a boot menu by holding Option. It was still the same backlit but blank screen. I did see the LED on the USB drive flash a few times.
  • I tried to hold down Cmd+R to boot into recovery mode, but the computer didn't respond to this (still blank screen)
  • I tried to hold down T while turning the computer on to activate Target Disk Mode. This did make a Lightning Bolt show up on my computer screen, but I didn't test whether or not I could access my files.

So, how screwed am I? Any help would be much appreciated.
