Hello,
I have an iMac late 2015 I want to install macOS sonoma on an external drive that is an SSD inside an acasis thunderbolt enclosure.
If I boot the Mac in recovery mode, the system loads and I can see the external drive under Disk Utility.
The problem: if I boot the Mac with an external USB I've created with OpenCore patcher the loader crashes (it freezes). And the problem looks related to compatibility issues with the external SSD.
What happens in details: 1. At startup I hold option to have the boot menu 2. I select Efi boot 3. I select Install Sonoma from my external usb drive 4. The apple symbol shows but it stucks at the beginning of the progress bar
Why I say is the SSD? If I do the same without connecting it, it loads. And If I try to connect it later either it isn't read by disk utility, or suddenly all stucks and I need to force reboot with button
Since the SSD is read in Mac recovery mode it looks like something is missing inside OpenCore. Do you have suggestions?
Like trying older versions of OpenCore or other, but the best thing in this case could be maybe to contact their developers.
Thank you for your reply
