Suppose Apple drops support for the newest MacOS supporting x86 at some point, what's stopping people from backporting features to older MacOS's?

For example like stage manager, it doesn't seem difficult at all to backport a standalone application that does the exact same thing. Couldn't we keep the Hackintosh community alive by building out features like that, long after apple leaves x86 behind?
