2013 Mac Pro 6,1 and OCLP 1.4.2 seems to hang in the USB stick Sonoma 14.4 installer

I'm trying to use OCLP 1.4.2 to upgrade my 2013 Mac Pro trash can (3.0 GHz 8-core, 32 GB, AMD FirePro D700 6 GB) from Monterey 12.7.4 to Sonoma 14.4.

Ran the OCLP patcher, told it to download Sonoma 14.4, it created the USB installer OK (on a 32 GB SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 USB stick). OCLP built, I told it to install to the EFI partition on the boot volume. Rebooted, held down Option, picked the EFI partition, and on the next screen I picked the USB stick.

Screen blanks, the Apple logo comes up, a couple of ticks on the progress bar ... and then, nothing. Screen goes blank, and my LG 5K monitor (connected via Thunderbolt, with an Apple TB3 -> TB2 adapter - works fine when booted into Monterey 12.7.4) says it's going into Power Save mode. Power-cycled, same steps, same result.

When booted into Monterey 12.7.4 if I go into the USB stick and double click on the "Install macOS Sonoma" app it comes up fine. I don't dare tell it to run because I'm not booted from the OCLP EFI choice.

I have no clue why the Sonoma 14.4 installer goes off into the ozone when picked from the Option boot picker.

Any ideas?
