WiFi disappeared during fresh install of OCLP Ventura - MB 5,2+6GB+SSD

The issue of WiFi disappearing during or after a fresh install of macOS Ventura using OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP), especially on older Mac models like yours (MacBook 5,2), can be attributed to several factors. These range from compatibility issues with the WiFi hardware to problems with the system's configuration or the patches applied by OCLP. Here's a guide to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue. This guide is intended for users with an intermediate level of technical skill.

Troubleshooting WiFi Issues in macOS Ventura on Older Macs
Skill Level: Intermediate

Steps to diagnose and fix WiFi issues encountered after installing macOS Ventura via OpenCore Legacy Patcher on older Mac models.

  1. Check Compatibility: Ensure your WiFi hardware is compatible with macOS Ventura. Some older WiFi cards might not be supported in newer macOS versions.
  2. Reapply Patches: Since you've already tried reapplying patches, ensure you're using the latest version of OCLP and apply the patches again.
  3. Reset NVRAM: Boot into recovery mode and reset the NVRAM. This can resolve issues caused by corrupted settings.
  4. Reinstall macOS: If the problem persists, consider reinstalling macOS Ventura. Ensure you have a backup of your data before proceeding.
  5. Downgrade to Monterey: As you mentioned USB issues with Ventura, downgrading to Monterey might be a more stable option for your hardware.
  6. WiFi Hardware Check: If possible, test the WiFi module in another compatible device to rule out hardware failure.
  7. Consult OCLP Community: Engage with the OpenCore Legacy Patcher community for insights and solutions specific to your model.

Note: WiFi hardware incompatibility is a common issue in older Macs running newer macOS versions. The solution might require hardware modification or using an external WiFi adapter.

I did a fresh Ventura install. It took a while, but eventually after many boots, restarts, and recovery from a backup, it all went OK. I even downloaded my iCloud data.

At some point afterwards, the WiFi disappeared, never to return.

I tried the System Information to see the data, but it never started. I reinstalled the patches, rebooted etc. But all to no avail.

Not sure if there is a solution to this. I didn't really want to go further than Monterey, due to the USB issues.

Any useful ideas?
