Finding a Kext for RTL8821CE on macOS Ventura

Addressing Wi-Fi Connectivity with RTL8821CE on macOS Ventura
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced

This guide assists in finding a solution for enabling Wi-Fi on an Asus X515EA laptop with RTL8821CE chipset running macOS Ventura.

Step 1: Research

Investigate Hackintosh forums and communities for any existing kexts compatible with RTL8821CE and macOS Ventura.

Step 2: Verify Sources

Ensure any kexts found are from reliable sources to avoid potential system instability or security risks.

Step 3: Backup System

Always backup your current system before installing new kexts.

Step 4: Kext Installation

Install the kext carefully, following any specific instructions provided by the source.

Step 5: Testing and Troubleshooting

After installation, test Wi-Fi functionality and monitor system stability, reverting changes if necessary.

The RTL8821CE chipset is not natively supported in macOS, and finding a compatible kext can be challenging. If you've found a YouTube video claiming to have a working kext, but it's in a .pkg file, here's a general approach you can take:

  1. Inspect the .pkg File: Before installing, you can inspect the contents of the .pkg file to ensure it contains the necessary kext files and doesn't include any malicious content. You can use tools like Pacifist for macOS to open and inspect .pkg files.

  2. Install the Kext: If the .pkg file seems legitimate, you can proceed to install it. This process usually involves running the .pkg installer, which should place the kext file in the correct directory. However, you should be cautious with installations from unverified sources.

  3. Using WifiInjector: If the YouTuber provided a WifiInjector alongside the kext, it's likely used to inject the necessary information into macOS to recognize your Wi-Fi card. WifiInjector typically requires you to modify certain system files or settings, which can vary based on the specific tool and your system configuration.

  4. Backup and Test: Always back up your current system before installing new kexts or making significant changes, especially when dealing with unverified sources. After installation, monitor your system for stability and functionality.

If you find that this approach doesn't work, or if you're hesitant about using unverified kexts, considering a macOS-compatible USB Wi-Fi dongle might be a safer and more reliable alternative, despite the limitations you mentioned.

For more detailed assistance and to explore if there are any newly developed solutions, I recommend visiting Hackintosh forums or communities where users often share their experiences and solutions for specific hardware setups.

Hey! So i have a Asus X515EA with RTL8821CE i managed to get Ventura to boot, but is there a kext for rtl8821ce? i cannot replace the chip, and obv i need internet, Ethernet isn't a duable option because the Asus X515EA doesnt have a ethernet port, and i dont want to spend money on usb dongles, but even if i did buy a usb dongle, my router is far away from the actual router. I did a lot of digging, and no luck, i did find this YouTuber who claims that the kext works, but the kext he provides is in a .pkg file, he did provide a WifiInjector but idk how to use it.
