FIX: #loginwindow quit unexpectedly issue on Sonoma (MacBook Pro 9,2)

It appears that you're encountering an issue with the login process on your Hackintosh running Sonoma. This type of issue can be caused by various factors, and troubleshooting it may require some trial and error. Here are some steps you can take to address the "loginwindow quit unexpectedly" issue:

  1. Check System Logs:

    • Start by examining the system logs to gather more information about the crash. You can access the logs using the Console app in macOS.
  2. Boot in Safe Mode:

    • Try booting your Hackintosh in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if a third-party application or kext is causing the problem.
  3. Update Kexts and Drivers:

    • Ensure that all your kexts and drivers are up-to-date and compatible with Sonoma. Outdated or incompatible extensions can lead to crashes.
  4. Kernel and ACPI Patches:

    • Review your bootloader's config.plist for any custom kernel or ACPI patches that might need adjustments for Sonoma.
  5. User Account Corruption:

    • Sometimes, user account issues can cause login problems. Create a new user account and see if the issue persists when logging in with the new account. If it doesn't, your original user account might be corrupted.
  6. System Integrity Protection (SIP):

    • Check if SIP is enabled on your Hackintosh. Some modifications, such as disabling SIP, can lead to login issues.
  7. Graphics Drivers:

    • Ensure you have the correct graphics drivers installed and configured for your hardware. Graphics driver issues can cause login problems.
  8. Boot Arguments:

    • Review and update any boot arguments in your bootloader's config.plist. Make sure they are appropriate for your hardware and the Sonoma version.
  9. Check for Third-Party Software:

    • Third-party software, especially security or system utilities, can sometimes interfere with the login process. Temporarily disable or uninstall such software and see if the problem persists.
  10. System Maintenance:

    • Run routine system maintenance tasks, such as repairing disk permissions and verifying the disk using Disk Utility.
  11. Reset NVRAM/PRAM:

    • Resetting the NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory) or PRAM (parameter RAM) can sometimes resolve login-related issues. To do this, restart your Hackintosh and hold down Command + Option + P + R until you hear the startup chime twice.
  12. Reinstall macOS:

    • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may consider reinstalling macOS Sonoma. Be sure to back up your data before proceeding with a reinstallation.
  13. Consult Hackintosh Forums:

    • Seek help from Hackintosh forums or community support, as other users with similar hardware or experiences may have solutions or insights to offer.

Remember that troubleshooting Hackintosh issues can be complex, and it may take some time to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. Be patient and methodical in your approach to identify and resolve the "loginwindow quit unexpectedly" issue.

Whenever my Mac tries to lock the screen such as when i leave it idle for 5 minutes or when it tries to launch my screensaver the screen flashes and then logs me out and then takes a painful minute or two to try and load the system again (while it try's to load the system every thing is like its in slow motion. its slow.) This happened kind of spontaneously last week. Before that , it was working fine.

a video i recorded demonstrating the issue
