Laptop with E-GPU Hackintosh

The search through the available documentation did not yield specific results regarding the exact kexts required for eGPU support in Hackintosh setups. However, based on my existing knowledge, here's a general approach to getting an eGPU to work on a laptop Hackintosh:

  1. Thunderbolt Support: Ensure your laptop's Thunderbolt port is functional in macOS. This typically requires a combination of BIOS settings and possibly patches in your config.plist.

  2. Proper Bootloader Configuration: Use the latest version of your bootloader (Clover or OpenCore) and ensure it's properly configured for your system.

  3. Kexts: The kexts required depend on the specific eGPU enclosure and graphics card you're using. Commonly required kexts for GPU support include WhateverGreen.kext and Lilu.kext.

  4. NVRAM Variables: Some eGPU setups may require setting NVRAM variables to properly initialize the eGPU at boot.

  5. Hot-Plug Support: Hot-plugging an eGPU in macOS can be hit or miss. Some setups may only work if the eGPU is connected before booting.

  6. Vendor Support: Vendors like Razer, Sonnet, and Aorus have their own support software for eGPUs, which may not be compatible with macOS. Research if other Hackintosh users have had success with your specific eGPU model.

  7. Community Resources: Look for guides or threads on forums such as tonymacx86 or Reddit's r/hackintosh where users may have shared their own experiences and solutions with specific eGPU models.

Remember, due to macOS's limitations on NVIDIA support post-High Sierra, if your eGPU uses an NVIDIA card, you may be restricted to certain macOS versions unless you use an AMD card that is supported by macOS.

If you are using an eGPU setup that has been proven to work by other Hackintosh users, they might have shared the necessary kexts and configuration settings. Assembling a working eGPU setup on a Hackintosh can involve a lot of trial and error and may require extensive community support.

Who among you is currently using EGPUs to power your laptops. Since Gen 10th Intel you cant use the IGPU, EGPU are good option for mobile Hackintosh.

What kext are required to get them working? Please mention the EGPU you use, Razer, Sonnet, Aorus etc...
