Sonoma login screen freeze/crash

Sonoma login screen freeze/crash

I have recently been seeing a few posts and comments about login screens freezing and crashing after updating to Sonoma through OCLP on certain machines. I personally had this problem on my 2012 MBP and 2013 iMac, and it is a problem listed by OpenCore Legacy Patcher’s team.

As they suggested, simply changing the profile picture to anything other than a Memoji solved that problem on both of my Macs, leaving smooth and quick login screens.

Logging in on one machine took quick timing of entering my password in the couple seconds between when the login screen came back up after crash and when the Memoji tried loading which would prompt the next crash. My other machine was similar except it was also frozen for long periods of time so took patiently watching for the chance to get my password in. Booting into Safe Mode is also an option where I didn’t have the issues and would give a chance to change the picture.

I didn’t see anything on Google regarding this login screen problem and didn’t see much on here about it, so I wanted to share this and hope to help some people out.
