Program Stalls - Hard Resets - Crash on CPU Usage and Wakeups

Hardware:

  • CPU: Intel i7-9700K
  • GPU: MSI Gaming Radeon Rx 5700 Xt
  • RAM: HyperX Fury 32GB 2666MHz DDR4
  • Motherboard/Laptop model: Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming
  • Audio Codec: 1
  • Ethernet Card: Onboard (Intel I219V)
  • Wifi/BT Card: BCM94360CD
  • What guide/tool followed: Standard open core guide
  • What part I got an issue with:

Following an OS update and an OpenCore update, one of my Hackintosh builds has started constantly freezing programs on launch, and randomly hard resetting. This is directly linked to programs that hit the CPU with a heavy load.

I did install a new M.2 SSD and that may have something to do with it, all through NVMeFix.kext is installed and I've had no issues with drive performance.

I removed all Overclocking and XMP profiles - no change.

The issue calmed down when I deleted VirtualSMCSuperIO.kext, but it's still present.

I also tried using CPUFriend to adjust things and tried every available option to no avail.

Constant Crashing of Programs and Complete system power off. Motherboard Posts in Safemode.

Open core logs have yielded no useful information

In the code blocks are the notable crash reports from applications that have stalled or caused hard resets. I can supply the full files if needed. There were several kernel crash reports as well, but I couldn't open them so I'm not sure if they're useful.

Extra Info:

I've had an issue with USB mapping. One of the USB internal headers has a lot of random motherboards devices on it (RGB lighting mainly). USBInjectAll.kext is still present for that reason. No issues from this before the NVME Install/Opencore & MacOS update.

Setting it up so the iGPU is used for processing only has been a struggle. The outputs of the dGPU all work, and the 5700 shows up in activity monitor and About this Mac but I feel this may be notable.

Thanks so much! I'm one hard reset away from nuking the SSD and starting over.
