Troubleshooting sleep on a Hackintosh

Troubleshooting sleep on a Hackintosh

Hi all, me again, kindly asking for help

TL, DR: I have two almost identical vanilla OpenCore Hacks, one sleeps and one doesn't, and I'm losing my mind trying to figure out why, please help me troubleshoot it

I'm trying to build second Hackintosh, this time for my wife, with the Coffee Lake platform (so far it seems to be best bang for the buck if buying used parts, and we can't afford better/newer)

Hardware (in the "broken" one):

  • Motherboard that's confirmed to have working sleep in numerous Hackintoshes (more on that later)
  • Core i3-8100, some generic RAM
  • AMD Radeon R9 380 4gb
  • Sabrent Rocket Q 512 NVMe for macOS with NVMeFix.kext
  • Some garbage Kingston SSDs on the SATA controller for Windows and files
  • Fenvi native 802.11ac Wi-Fi
  • Chinese RGB-lit keyboard, Microsoft wireless mouse, Wacom tablet

I used EFI that I've built for myself in the similar i5-8400 build with one of these motherboards. The installation went well and I'd say it runs pretty stable... unless it's being put to sleep; then panic happens, PC turns off, and when pressing Power, it boots up straight to the OpenCore. This problem is very elusive and persistent at the same time; I can't figure out what's causing it.

Here's the panic window:

What I've tried to troubleshoot:

  • Tried Gigabyte B360M H, H370M DS3H, MSI B360M PRO VDH, they all give me this panic even though they slept well in my primary Hackintosh
  • Tried with definitely supported RX 560 GPU, it still panics
  • Tried disabling SATA controller and tinkering with Wake on LAN in UEFI settings, same
  • Tried USB Mapping, well I wouldn't be writing this post here if it helped... so existential...
  • Disabled hibernation and proximitywake, did not help

What I haven't tried yet:

  • Removing igfxfw=2 boot arg (maybe it works on 8400 but doesn't on 8100? but it's the same UHD 630)
  • Booting with a different PSU
  • Not using Sabrent Rocket Q as a boot drive, or using it without NVMeFix
  • Using different peripherals (but it's not like they will make real Mac panic?)

I've also had Intel Wi-Fi in this machine before switching to Fenvi, and had AirPortItlwm and two IntelBluetooth kexts in this system; they are removed now, but maybe they left some trail that causes this?

I'm stumbled at this point, and absolutely don't know what to do. I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions, even very weird ones (because this problem does not seem to be an ordinary one). Thanks.
