First build in 6 Years, desk PC build. Some semi-basic questions for my sanity.

Hey folks! I’ve had my current build for 7 years. (980gtx, i5, 32gb Ram, 3 monitors, way too many storage devices to count.) I’m finally in a spot to where I can build a new PC but I have a few general questions since I’ve only done basic builds in the past.

This build is a little unique for me, I’m working with my father to design and build a desk where we can integrate the build into it. Nothing $3,000 fancy but better than average I’d hope. We have the design of the desk drawn out and discussed and were waiting on weather to start the physical build, and in the mean time I’m looking into what should go into the desk.

1: When I do a build I try to future proof it for 8 years~ish. With this in mind and DDR5 ram rolling out late this/next year do you think it would be smart to wait until October and see where it stands?

2: I’ve never done Liquid cooling, and I’m hesitant to start here. I have the design planned out for plenty of fans and cooling already. Do you think it’d be worth it to at least experiment for something of this level of uniqueness?

3: Sacrifices to the gods so GPU prices go back to normal? Please?

4: I’m new to making a build actually look nice, so any suggestions or tips would be amazing. My previous builds were purely functional and hideous.

Any help is much appreciated! I’m just worried about spending 1-2k on a build and it being boring looking and super dated in 4 years.
