Hackintosh Big Sur 11.0.1 OpenCore 0.6.2 - Z490I Aorus Ultra

Hey guys, in my previous post I was on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7, but in a few hours I updated to MacOS Big Sur Beta 11.0.1.

Most of the problems I was having in Catalina disappeared in Big Sur, such as:

  1. Unexpected Errors when launching Chess, Adobe XD and some games;
  2. WiFi not working even with the proper kexts;
  3. Siri not working (for some reason);
  4. When trying to change User profile picture, I would get an unexpected error;
  5. Safari was having problems loading some site, such as Youtube, Reddit and couldn't play anything on Netflix as well.

These thing don't happen anymore on Big Sur. The reason for this is unknown to me, but I guessed it had something to do with the OS version, so I upgraded it.

Hardware

Motherboard: Z490I Aorus Ultra;

CPU: i5 10400 (I know I have an overkill mobo, but I'm planning on buying an i9 10900k soon, so don't worry guys. I am from the school of thought that the most important part of the PC is the motherboard, so I tend to go overkill with them;

iGPU: Intel Graphics UHD 630 1536 MB;

Memory: 2x8Gb XPG Spectrix 3000MHz DDR4;

Ethernet: Intel I-225V and WiFi 6/Bluetooth 5.1 AX201;

Audio Codec: Realtek ALC 1220-VB;

Storage: 500Gb WD Black NVMe* | 1Tb Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HD | 160Gb WD Green HD;

Cooling: Gamer Storm Castle 240EX AIO w/2 Gamer Storm Coolers as front intake | x2 Standard NZXT outtake coolers;

Case: NZXT H210i | RGB Led Strip;

PSU: Corsair AX650 Plus Gold;

Peripherals: Razer Huntsman Elite Keyboard** | Logitech G903 Wireless Mouse | Kenwood A-A5 Receiver for glorious vintage high definition sound (F. Panel Audio for 2 ch. 5.1) | Logitech C270 Webcam and Microphone;

Monitors: Display 1 AOC 2460PF (2460G4) 144Hz with AOC ultimul Aug 2015 Color Profile (via Display Port) | Display 2 Samsung S22B300 21" 60Hz with default Color Profile (via HDMI)

Good software to have: Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Password Manager | Razer Software by u/1kc1kc (https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/gd0zl3/razer_keyboards_for_macos_catalina_finally/) | Logitech LGHUB | Folx Torrent

*The NVMe is mounted to the front of the motherboard, check your motherboard's manual to see which SATA connection is disabled because of the shared PCI lanes (I think this is most common in mini-ITX boards).

**Don't try to install Razer Synapse 2 from Razer, they no longer support MacOS and it made me clean NVRAM to be able to reboot and shutdown without getting an OCB: LoadImage Failed: Aborted error.

Installation

Installation is very simple if you already have MacOS Catalina 10.15.7, just enroll your Hackintosh in the official Apple website for beta testing and install the dmg. It really works without a single problem.

If you have similar hardware to mine, I'll be happy to help you with some settings, but I won't post my EFI as it seems to be against the rules of this community.

Also, I'm in no way the best Hackintosher out here, so take my advices with a grain of salt, although I'll be transparent about my knowledge, it's important to point out that just because everything worked fine on my end, it's no guarantee that it will work on yours.

What's Working

  • Safari is working perfectly (and it's so beautiful ^^);
  • WiFi is working, as well as Ethernet through cable (location services working as well);
  • Photos, iMessage, Facetime, Chess, Adobe Software, VS Code, Keynote, Tidal MQA and Audio MIDI Setup and all system preferences are working as expected.
  • During the boot process, the main display (connected through DP) goes green and then black. The secondary monitor stays fine and even shows the login screen (without the users) as expected. The Chime doesn't play as well.

What's not Working

  • Bluetooth is not working;
  • Apple Care (obviously);
  • Minecraft is not reaching the same performance as it did on Windows 10, but I think that's normal, not a Hackintosh problem, just a problem with Mac in general.
  • When booting with my two monitors

Final Considerations

If anyone has any idea as to why the things that are not working are... well, not working, please comment!
