Mac Pro 3,1 Case Build Advice

Hi there hackintosh community

So for this winter break, I am planning to do something that has been on my mind for quite some time. Under my desk sits an old Mac Pro 3,1, which is getting a bit slow nowadays. But I don't want to throw this beautiful case away, so I've decided that I want to build a hackintosh inside of it to last me for quite some additional time. I've read through many of the threads on tonymacx86 on the case conversion, and I feel pretty confident in doing the hardware modifications myself.

This would be used with a windows install on the second ssd for gaming, as well as some light photoshop/indesign/rendering work in keyshot and FCPX on the Mac side next to general office usage.

However, this is the first computer I'm actually building myself, so I have a couple of questions. Now I know many of these are not really specific to hackintoshes but rather to building a pc in general, but who knows, maybe you guys can help me anyways.

  1. What do you guys think of my parts list? Are there any compatibility issues? Is there a part I should absolutely change? I plan for this new hackintosh to last me quite some time, so budget is not that big of an issue. List can be found here and below.
  2. Am I missing something (accessories etc.)?
  3. I would like to still use the original power button on the front of the case - do I need an adapter cable just like on the G5 used in this thread?
  4. Is the PSU I picked overkill? I would like to have some headroom for future upgrades, but then again - this is my first PC so I don't really know what I'm doing here.
  5. Case Fans: I picked two large ones to go in the front of the case and two small ones to go in the back. Is this ok? Is it too much/too little?
  6. Do I need any additional cabling?
  7. Would it be beneficial to add a second RX580 with crossfire for gaming?
  8. Lastly, do you have any general advice that might not be covered by these questions?

Again, thanks in advance you for your advice.
