I swapped out my old Nvidia 950 with an RX 580 so I could finally make the leap to Catalina. I also decided to do a "dry run" on a blank HD before I tried updating my current install, just so I could reverse everything if things didn't work. My system:
- Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 ATX LGA1151
- Intel Core i7-6700K 4 GHz
- RX 580 Sapphire Pulse
I followed the Vanilla guide as well as the Skylake instructions to set up Clover.
The installer starts, then does its first reboot, then continues on and does a second reboot, but after that, I just get a white screen with a pointer that I can move around, but disappears if I click the mouse. If I let it be, the PC eventually goes to sleep. I can wake it up with a keyboard press, but it's still just a white screen.
I made a few modifications to the config.plist based on this thread, but that didn't change anything.
I started with iMac17,1 and have tried iMacPro1,1 with no luck.
The fact that I can get as far as I can into the install and don't get a KP is confounding, and I'm not sure what direction to start tweaking. Any ideas?
