2560x1440 Resolution and MacOS

Hi, I’m about to buy a new monitor as mine just died a few days ago. I’m considering Dell’s Ultrasharp series. The question is whether buying 24” 1080p (U2419H) or 25” 1440p (U2518Q) (last year’s model which btw, people are complaining about it a lot like backlight bleeding, screen tearing, fake HDR etc.) or 27” (U2719DC) with 1440p resolution. I’ve already read a lot in here and other forums etc. about activating Fake Retina Mode to have a crisp text and visuals.

The issue is that I have an old hardware. H97 mobo, i5-4690 CPU, 8Gig Ram, GTX 650 Ti Power Edition. Ultrasharp series have DP, USB-C (some models) and HDMI inputs. My video card has DVI and mini HDMI out so, I’ll use HDMI out to drive either 1080p 60Hz or 1440p 60Hz. GTX 650 Ti is capable of running 4K but only with DVI output. I still couldn’t find if it can handle 1440p 60Hz over HDMI which btw it has version 1.4a. Can I use 1440p 60Hz over HDMI with GTX 650 Ti card?

The reason I’m considering to buy a 1440p display is that 1080p’s work area is not enough for me. I was planning to buy a 24” with 16:10 ratio back in the day when I need a new monitor but now what I see is 16:10 ratio is vanished for some reason. I don’t want to invest an old monitor so the only option is buying a 1440p display with either 25” or 27”.

Some comments about 1440p on hackintosh that texts are not as crisp as a real Mac and they did the Fake Retina Mode to achieve crisp text. What is your experience with it?

4K is not an option for me because I can’t afford it at the moment.

Thanks.
