This may be a question that's been beaten with a hammer, but was wondering if anyone has recent experience with this. The lack of NVIDIA Web Drivers for Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-mojave-on-supported-pc.html'>Mojave, paired with general optimization for AMD has led me to seriously consider replacing the 1080ti for a weaker, but more compatible RX580.
Performance:
The key area that would push me towards this shift is the performance. Is OS X optimized that heavily for AMD cards that 580 Nitro+ would lead to performance increases?
Workload:
My workload is primarily web-development with a bit of Final Cut Pro X thrown into the mix... I had purchased the 1080ti for Machine Learning (I don't game). These days, the main feature for OS X that I appreciate is continuity that OS X offers between my iPad, iPhone and MBP. Additionally, having an Apple Laptop, I'm pretty heavily invested in the Apple software ecosystem (e.g., Coda, Quiver, etc...)
If I go through with this switch, I may put the 1080ti in an eGPU or a second PC so that I could use it under Windows (Although there's no way an eGPU platform would provide full x16 bandwidth)... Any suggestions?
Would appreciate your insights!
