Minor Firmware Quirk After Upgrading From Mojave to Monterey (Advice Sought)

Hey, gang.

I followed Mr Macintosh's (otherwise excellent) instructions on upgrading from Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-mojave-on-supported-pc.html'>Mojave to Monterey on my Mid 2012 MBP (16gb RAM, 2TB SSD), and did a clean install. I found afterwards when checking with Silent Knight, that because I hadn't taken my machine all the way up to a legitimate Apple version of Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina (which was the last one it would support) from Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-mojave-on-supported-pc.html'>Mojave, the ROM was missing the Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina firmware update on the Mac itself.

I'm planning on installing a legitimate version of Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina to an external USB drive to try update the ROM, then reboot into my internal SSD to Monterey. Does anyone know if this would work in getting the firmware back up? Or is there another method I should use?

Also, if the firmware is updated, what steps do I need to take in updating OCLP, or anything else?

Thanks.
