I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch, 2016 model. It’s one of the Touch Bar MBP’s. Monterey is the latest it supports, so no new iCloud support.
Questions:
When using OpenCore to jump to the latest os, does the os load cleanly or do I need to select something special during the boot sequence?
Will system updates, probably more specifically os updates, cause issues?
Are there any obviously unsupported things, like WiFi, graphics, etc?
Why I ask:
I used OpenCore many years ago, and at some point ran into some major issues. Maybe it was a system update or I was using it far too early before there was much support. I seem to recall at some point the screen started blinking every few seconds and then I lost all WiFi drivers and was unable to connect to the internet to get updates. I did not have the time to fix it, and eventually wiped the machine and went back to Monterey, which was a fairly complicated process as most every normal method failed.
I’d love to update again but don’t want to make the same mistakes twice.
Can anyone share their experience on a similar machine, and any best practices to avoid issues down the road?
Thank you for your support and time!
