Fixing ASUS RX 580 8GB Framebuffer Issue in Ryzentosh Sonoma 14.3

Description: Are you facing issues with your ASUS RX 580 8GB graphics card framebuffer in your Ryzentosh running Sonoma 14.3? Follow this guide to troubleshoot and resolve the problem to get all your video outputs working seamlessly.

Guide:

  1. Identify Framebuffer Issue: Determine if your ASUS RX 580 8GB graphics card is encountering a framebuffer issue causing only the first DisplayPort (DP) video output to work.

  2. ATI Framebuffer Configuration: Understand the configuration of the ATY, Yelcho framebuffer and its compatibility with Sonoma 14.3. Verify if the changes applied to the framebuffer are not reflected in OpenCore.

  3. BIOS Settings: Ensure that your BIOS settings are properly configured to support macOS Sonoma 14.3 and the chosen framebuffer configuration. Adjust settings related to GPU initialization and internal ports if necessary.

  4. Patch for Connectors: Create a patch for connectors based on the ATY, Yelcho framebuffer to enable all video outputs, including HDMI. Refer to the ATI BIOS ROM and AMD9500Controller details to verify the connector configurations.

  5. Verify Modifications: Validate the modifications made to the framebuffer configuration and connector patches. Check if the changes are correctly applied in OpenCore bootloader to activate all video outputs.

  6. Testing and Troubleshooting: Test each video output port, including DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI-D, to ensure they are functioning correctly. Troubleshoot any issues encountered during testing, such as black screens or display anomalies.

  7. Framebuffer Object IDs: Understand the mapping of connector object IDs to their respective encoders and ensure the correct configuration for each video output port.

  8. Review Modifications: Review the modifications made to the framebuffer configuration, connector patches, and any other relevant settings. Ensure that all changes align with the requirements of Sonoma 14.3 and your specific hardware configuration.

ASUS RX 580 8gb - framebuffer

Good afternoon I use ASUS RX 580 8GB in Sonoma 14.3.1 (23D60) - and ATY, Yelcho framebuffer. Orinoco is no longer supported. Only the first DP video output works, but I have two monitors and really want HDMI.

I made a patch for connectors based on ATY, Yelcho, but the changes are not applied in OpenCore. Perhaps it's not correct. Without a frame, all video outputs work, but I would like to use ATY, Yelcho.
