I wasn't expecting to upgrade this soon, but there were alot of people on here posting Success , so I got inspired.
I wanted to point out a few minor weird things that had happened to me during the process. Would be interested to know if anyone else had a similar experience.
The first time I created the USB installer, when I tried to boot from it, it only loaded to 25% and then got stuck. Yes, I was using the EFI boot option. I saw other people on here posting the something similar, but I think they had attempted to upgrade via System Settings.
So not sure what happened there, but luckily since I did the USB installer method and no actual changes had been made to the internal boot drive at this point, I could just boot back in to Ventura and create the USB installer again in case I had done something wrong.
After booting from the USB installer again, it loaded in to Sonoma Recovery Success fully this time, but it was only giving me the option to do a clean install (not an upgrade).
So I rebooted again, booted from the USB installer again (didn't change anything at all), and this time it gave me the option to upgrade.
And after that, it was smooth sailing.
