Higher CPU use on 12.6.8?

GB Z170-HD3, i5-6600K, Radeon RX580, 4X8GB DDR4 and iMac17,1 SMBIOS.

Has been hackintoshed from day 1, initially as El Cap and then updated to Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina, Big Sur, and since June it's been on Monterey. USBs mapped for the Monterey update.

Recently updated from Monterey 12.6.7 to 12.6.8 via Apple software update, without fanfare or trouble at all.

However, CPU temps have gone up a lot. When I play YouTube videos at 2K the CPU temps can exceed 90C. This *never* happened before. I'm using the latest Brave. Brave browser helper, renderer and helper GPU processes seem to be major offenders during the high activity periods.

Nonetheless, using Safari doesn't solve the problem either so it's not browser-specific. It could be something to do with how rendering is accomplished in *any* browser? IDK?

Streaming videos seems to be the cause of the elevated CPU % and CPU temperatures. Curiously, although CPU use can be high and CPU temps hot, the GPU % remains low throughout.

Has anyone experienced this? How do I get my CPU temps back under control?

Thanks.
