On the Razer Blade Pro 2017 running 10.13.6 and latest NVIDIA drivers, the program QuickRes I discovered today as a win-win for the 4K display. OMG!
Keep in mind it still is SLOW compared to the HD model of that year, and certainly not modern compared to the 2019 models form Razer. However, for daily driver Hackintosh use it really adds some value to macOS. Not bad for $15 USD.
