Should I keep my time machine backup after successfully using opencore to update to sonoma?

I made a time machine backup before installing opencore to install sonoma. Fortunately, I did not run into any issues related to data loss, but the hard drive I used was just for me to temporarily make a backup of my mac data just in case if the installation went wrong. Can I now erase the hard drive with the time machine backup? Do I still need the time machine backup? I still need to use the hard drive for something else.
