OCLP is Awesome

About a year ago, I was given an md-2012 Macbook Pro. It had no charger, and it was dead. I purchased a charger from Amazon and got it powered on. The OS was the original one it came with, and every time I tried to update it to Catalina, it failed. I purchased a recovery USB drive from an Etsy vendor and got it updated. It was fine, but it wouldn't use modern versions of my software, namely MS Office 365, and certain things didn't sync with my iPhone 15 Pro, such as Notes and Reminders. I purchased a 2017 Macbook Air, which was updated to Montery. It's not the latest OS, but I can at least use modern applications, and everything works in sync with my iPhone.

I removed the mid-2012 Mackbook Pro from my iCloud account and set it aside to sell.

A few months after doing that, I discovered OCLP in another sub on Reddit and decided to see what it could do for my old laptop. Before getting started, I replaced the original hard drive with a 512 GB SSD from Amazon and upgraded the RAM to 16 GB, again with parts from Amazon.

After reading posts in this sub and watching a few YouTube videos, I gave it a go and installed Ventura. I didn't go for Sonoma because I was concerned that any feature updates that might come down could break OCLP.

This laptop, which I am writing this post on, has been incredible. I love using it, and I use it more than my newer laptop. I've invested $93.00 in this laptop and am more than happy with the outcome.

Thanks, OCLP team!
