Planning my first hackintosh, how's my spec looking?

Hi guys

Long time reader, first time poster :)

I'm planning my first hackintosh build. It's to replace my ageing X79 Windows 7 PC I built in 2012 (still running Windows 7...) with something more suitable for work and entertainment. I use a 2015 MBP for developing Xamarin mobile applications so I'm keen to embrace macOS on the desktop now.

I've selected the following components after a significant amount of research. The build is somewhat based on a guide from the Antony Macintosh forum but I plan on going vanilla with it of course (although for a newbie it's nice to have a backup plan).

  • CPU: Intel i7-8700K
  • GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX VEGA 64 OC
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 DESIGNARE
  • Wifi/BT Card: fenvi FV-T919
  • Storage: Samsung 970 Evo M.2-2280 NVME (500GB and 1TB), plus a Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB for Windows 10
  • Case: Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C

The graphics card should be ok I think, I've not seen anything really about the Gigabyte card. I'd originally selected a Sapphire but then read about the hit and miss nature of them with a hackintosh.

I've chosen that particular motherboard based on the built-in Thunderbolt 3, but unfortunately its WiFi/BT card situation means I'll need to use a PCIe card. The fenvi seems like the simplest solution, but I also want to use all of the front ports on the case which is why there's a little internal-to-external USB adapter on the parts list.

For the storage, my plan is to house macOS and apps on the 500GB NVME drive, my users directory on the 1TB drive, and keep Windows 10 and its apps/games on the 500GB SSD. I'm also hoping I can persuade Parallels to 'bootcamp' with the Windows SSD so when I only need to use Windows for some legacy programming tasks (not gaming) I don't need to reboot. Otherwise I'll just have to have a Windows VM as well... slight extra hassle. Anyway that's a bit off-topic.

The parts list also includes things like a monitor and peripherals, more for my planning than anything else.

Feedback welcome, thanks!
