Looking for help with existing build

Hi guys. I have an older-spec build that I’m very happy with. I use it mainly for programming, where it works flawlesly, and also for music production/mixing.

However in the last year, I have gotten into more memory/CPU consuming music projects where I’ll have a 100+ tracks project. In this case my main production DAW (digital audio workstation) slowly starta maxing out my resources. I was wondering if there was any way to prolong the usage of this machine, even though I eventually plan on making a new build.

The specs are as follows : * i5 4460 3.40Ghz quad core (4threads) * GIGABYTE GA-B85M-D3H (LGA1150 socket) * MSi GeForce GTX 750 * 16GB DD3 RAM * 2 SSDs and two mechanical drives * generic Blueberry power supply (500W) * High Sierra 10.13.4 with no power managment managment

I believe the bottleneck to be the processor, would buying something for this socket like i7 4790k make sense today? And would getting a better powersupply make sense? Or actually playing with power managment?

P.S. I might be wrong about some numbers, and will check tonight when I come home.
