Took me the better part of Sunday and Monday. Didn't know anything about Hackintosh and then I freaking spent time learning. Things I learnt on the way here:
- How to set up a virtual box
- How to make a usb installer properly
- Turns out my 4gb flash drive wasn't big enough and something called sudo kept messing me up...
- Installing the right files/drivers for my system (luckily a ton of already made ones for the dell 9560)
- Learning what a kext is...
- Hey why isn't the Mac installer seeing my solid state drive?
- Oh just turn SSD to ACHI from RAID mode in BIOS? Seems easy enough
- Oh god now windows isn't booting
- Oh OK change it and get it to boot in safe mode first gotcha
- Nice! I have MacOS! Finally can be done with the USB drive
- Wait, where did my MacOS go?...
- Oh have to install clover again, this time on the drive huh.
- Oh macOS doesn't support my wifi card, have to order a $6 off amazon
- Cool, cool, wait, why can't I use iMessages like on my phone and iPad??
- Oh OK maybe looking around serial IDs and other stuff, playing with it in clover configurator
- Still not working
- Ethernet Null port to spoof built in adapter needed apparently
- Try DSDT installing of the ethernet null port, doesn't work
- Try SSDT and it works. Turns out there is also a difference between a kext and the file that injects the kext...
- Finally done. I am loving it. Apple Store, iTunes, FaceTime, iMessages, all work perfectly. When the ethernet null port finally worked, my iPhone immediately got a message saying another computer signed into my iMessages! I know all the stuff above probably seem simple to some of you, but for me it was like WTF. Time to rest, this was too much computering for a noob like me. Though getting a 4k MacBook Pro with 16gb ram, 512 SSD and an i7-7700HQ for around ~1300 makes me extremely happy.
Thank you acdop100, RehabMan, and a million others lmao
You can see my USB wifi dongle cause I'm too lazy to open it up and replace it with a real card!
